So I think I got the voltage adjustments to work with ATI tool. I played with the memory voltages a tiny bit and I can definitely push it further than I could before. I am pretty sure it is working because the riva tuner monitor confirms each step in voltage that I make. Does anyone know what the VDDC, MVDDC and MVDDQ voltages are for an XT?

"Software can change the voltage, and all the extreme overclockers will be happy that you can go up to 2.035 V on VDDC (1.00 V default), MVDDC max. 3.400 V from 2.20 V default and MVDDQ up to 2.482 V from 1.897 V default."

Just curious JC316

3dMark05 13397 3dMark06 6496 on HD2900(PRO/XT?) on wich clocks?

No that was with my old 8600GTS. I expect that those will increase dramatically with the 2900 pro.

I would like to add if you have two XT or PRO cards installed ATi Tool will not start. No matter if you have crossfire turned on or not.

If you have 1 card installed it will come on. If you change the speed the fan setting will go back to defualt, and I think the voltage does the same thing.

I finally got my 8 pin adaptor, tried overclocking with CCC. I ran the automated configuration utility, stock cooler. Was happy to see it get over 800, running at about 79c. Walked away (stupid move) - came back to find the screen frozen, CCC somewhere around 840, with the GPU temp at 127c!!! :wtf: I immediately shut everything down.

Obviously run-away current at the temps it was hitting. Card is fine - after I ran 3DMark06 at 750 Mhz and got a score of 11K (I left all quality in CCC at stock). I'm still blown away by the graphics quality.

So next step is the Koolance waterblock. Then I do beleive I will flash to XT... I did the 12-16 pipe flash on 9500np using a floppy (btw). Yikes - almost 2 yrs ago...

127c!! christ my old X800PRO burned at 110c could hear sounds that shouldn't come from a video card. You must had angels watching over your card hehe

Anyone have any advice considering new CPU to my spec? i only go down 3dmarks if i overclock more then what iv already have. Must be my CPU that are bottlenecking my HD2900PRO. Would really love to have a CPU working identical with my card.

If you want to stay AM2 to keep costs down, I would suggest the 6000+, there are some good deals to be had at the moment...it stocks at 3Gig and is capable of between 3.3-3.5Gig on good air cooling.

OK the bios is in here somewhere I'll dig it out when I get back from the post office

atiflash -p 0 -newbios 2900xt.bin -f

This is what you need to type in Mediocre.

Do you have an A disk handy?

atiflash -p 0 -newbios 2900xt.bin -f

Or should I play bioshock? I'm playing... then I'll come back :)

I have a boot disk hanging out of my drive.

Did you flash it?

Yes all is well :toast:

BUT - My 'max' oc went from 821 to 816? I thought the xt BIOS had a voltage BUMP? Bah it could be the RAM on the backside with the lil sticky heatsinks

bah, Imma run at stock XT speeds, its easier (and not as hot)

I was scared something bad happened, because you never came back.

If your using CCC you get a bump no matter what when you oc that way. In ATi tool I see 1.5 as the standard 3/d clock voltage after the flash.

Now we have to see if AphexDreamer, and JC316 are going to try it as well.

Remember JC we have GDDR4 cards, and that bios that was posted in this thread is the GDDR 4 one.

You mean the Flashing? Well When ever I try to take my GPU to 800/999 any game I play Freezes. I think my CPU Is majorly bottlenecking me and plus I am useing a 500Watt PSU when it at least asks for a 550 Watt, so I am happy to be running this at 847/945. Even when I take the core clock to 860 my comp will freeze. So I Will be holding off on the flashing untill I get a better PSU and at least a motherboard that will allow me to overclock my CPU to its full potential.

I was putting $50 in fans into my 'liquid cooled' PC
ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan - Retail x 7 (4x on radiators - push/pull, 2 exhaust, 1 side)

ENERMAX UC-12EB 120mm Case Fan - Retail x1 on GPU HSF
:rockout:
Its completely silent, loudest part is the pump (when the rom's aren't running) :rockout::rockout:
The CCC voltage bump makes sense

Ya I had the same thing. Loaded up to ~75-78C...your's will probably go higher

I bought Thermalright HR-03 / R600

At first I put a 90mm fan on it, worked great. Then I read you can strap a 120mm to it, so I did that. Saw a few C difference....the cooler is HUGE, I gave up my x-fi for it :shadedshu

At first I put a 90mm fan on it, worked great. Then I read you can strap a 120mm to it, so I did that. Saw a few C difference....the cooler is HUGE, I gave up my x-fi for it :shadedshu

Just ran Bioshock for a little while - jumped out to see the temps at 73c (I left CCC running). I'm psyched!!!

Next is the waterblock, I've already been running stable for an hour at 804, haven't tried over that, though CCC crashed at 840 with the auto clock util. Oh well

Maybe I'll look at/lap the HS first. Hmmm.
