Hi,
I have heard there have been many heat issues with the e8400. Something and the thermal diode. Does anyone know if there have been any heat problems with the e8500.

I think this problem has to due with the maximum recommended operating temperature, which is ~71C for the e8400 model.

its released now.. there just isnt any out there in the channels.. not that many 8400s either.. kind of a fake launch to keep the shareholders happy.. released on time but not really so to speak.. he he he

It's a problem with all 45nm processors. The heat sensor reports high temperatures at cool temperatures that are really happening. The processor really doesn't run that high. It gets more and more accurate at high temperatures, though.

Hopefully they will fix because i wanna get a new 45nm but also i dont wanna take my chances of getting one of the screwed up ones. Then again if i did get a messed up one i could return and get a refund.

intels answer to that is they dont sell thermometers and all the sensors are for is to throttle the chip down if it overheats.. which they will do apparently..

again as measured by what...???.. my bios tells me mine idles at 4 C and loads at 8 C.. i could say i have no heat issues.. except i dont live in the artic.. he he

they dont run hot.. heat isnt the issue with them.. voltage is the unknown thing..

anything over 1.4 isnt considered good for 24/7 use.. dont overvolt and they will be okay.. i dont believe coretemp and certainly not everest.. but i dont think they run hot.. least my fingers cant feel any heat coming from the cooler and the base of the cooler feels cool..

forget heat and think voltage..

ps.. mine seems runs happy at 1.34 volts and 4 gig.. once u go much over 4 gig the voltage has to be upped in large amounts for each small speed increase..
