I think that's bogus, but I could be wrong and that could be all the NV PhysX support is there for atm...I don't think that will be long term. Did you happen to read about the guy that hacked the NV PhysX drivers to support the HD3850? It scored 22k in CPU Marks in Vantage...just because ATI/AMD haven't been able to follow suit officially yet, doesn't mean they don't have the same capabilities, I think more people need to look at that and ask AMD/ATI when they will recieve the same support and features, I think this feature set should become common between brands and be more of a general wide supported feature for future gaming...all this 3DMark banter is getting quite old, in reality we should see what games and gaming experiences are in store for us with this technology supported by more users than ever.

money is talk now , nvidia deals with most games companys to support nvidia card , we see the half live2 game which support by ati, score with ati more than any nvidia card's , just like other games which is support nvidia

I could care less about the scores and more about what's gonna give the the best performance for the budget when I decide to upgrade, I would like to think others around here feel the same. I'm not into this stuff for the politics, I'm into it to ensure I get a damn good deal, ensure my OC's and tuning are executed safely and reported likewise, and if the budget means I use a good performing ATI card for an NV game...and I still get good results, I could care less, same thing the other way around...in the end all that matters is I get the performance I paid for...somewhere up in ATI and NV's offices are decisions for products that compete at least somewhat closely, and the price-performance ratio is still important...sometimes I wonder just HOW important tho.

Well here is the thing.. With the Physx on in 3dmark your not going to see how the system works. It doesn't do anything to the score. The reason I say this is that its more of a way to allow the graphic card to work one and one with the CPU, allowing it to not have to work so hard to help render. It will help in Vantage because of the fact that The two CPU tests are completely different.

Here is what our friends at Wikipedia say...

1.) Don't Troll.
2.) There are several games that support PhysX, it isn't just a 3Dmark thing, so get your facts straight before you troll.
3.) Go back to your bridge.

Read that article, it isn't cheating, and they even got someone from Futuremark to confirm that. The benefits gained by GPU PhysX are the same benefits gained if you have a dedicated PPU in your system, which 3DMark Vantage is supposed to test. Plus, the added benefit that GPU PhysX adds applies to games also, which is what 3DMark is supposed to analyse, so it is again not cheating.

NVidia pushed out a technology that improved gameplay for its customers. How anyone mistakes this for a bad thing is beyond me, but it goes to show you how far the fanboyism has come in the industry.

yup run World in conflict and record it via fraps without physx enabled, then install the physx drivers and run the same thing again, believe me you'll see huge difference.

i don't mean games don't use physx, sure games now nothing without physx, am really injoy play games with physx, but the point is games don't use this much of physx , also you can buy a physx card and nothing better , there is something interesting i read it sure you are read too which is someone try to modify the physx driver and make it work on ati card and he doing well you can see he reach 22k score in 3d mark with hd 4870 , i think software base on render physx on gpu if that happen you know the powerful gpu of ati and that mean he made a perfect card without physx chip , that is the point

+1, absolutly.

so why are people still arguing that its cheating, and that its all a bogus marketing ploy?

whats better is ATi can use it too, so everyone can enjoy this awesome technology.

everybody wins, so now please no more arguing? please??

perhaps we can even get this thread back on the topic of helping people to get it working.

if you want to, go start a "nvidia physx is hax!!" thread.

This is a support thread to help people get PhysX up and running on their nVidia graphics cards.

Things you will need:

A CUDA enabled Graphics card(GeForce 8 or 9 series)
Forceware Driver Version 177.35 or 177.39 or 177.41
nVidia PhysX Driver 8.06.12
Modified inf files to install the Forceware Drivers on unsupported cards(provided lower in the post)

It is pretty simple, install the Forceware Driver, then install the PhysX driver. PhysX should then work. But if you are having problems ask here.

There is a special process you need to follow if you want to install the 177 series drivers on cards other than the GTX 280/260:

1.) Download the 177.41 drivers from here.
2.) Download the modified inf files from here.(Thanks Pagalms)
3.) Use the winzip/winrar/7zip/etc. to extract the driver exe into a folder.
4.) Copy the modified inf into the folder, replacing the old one.
5.) Run setup.exe from the folder to install the drivers.

Also, I would like to get a confirmed list of graphics cards that actually work with PhysX, so if we can get some people with different cards to post their results, what driver/s worked, and what OS here that would be very helpful for others with the same card trying to get it working.

9800GTX: Working, 177.35, Vistax64
8800GS: Not Working, 177.35, WinXP SP3

i tried the 177.41 but it doesn't work with me i have 8800 GTS 320mb and vista 32bit

physx does not have support for g80 (8800gts 320/640, 8800gtx, 8800ultra) yet. be patient, nvidia is working on it :)

Thx for the physx tool Cold Storm!

You need the modded inf file to get the 177.41 drivers to recognize your card, there is a link in the first post.

Though PhysX doesn't currently support your card, the G80 cards are not supported yet.

yup run World in conflict and record it via fraps without physx enabled, then install the physx drivers and run the same thing again, believe me you'll see huge difference.

Yours huge difference is exactly 0 percent, since i tried it.

it only works in PhysX enabled games. GRAW, GRAW2, Unreal Tournament III, CellFactor, etc. your not supposed to notice any fps increase it's a visual representation however some people have seen a Vantage increase of 300-3000 points since the PhysX Mod.
