I saw a review that included a 4850 and 4830 Xfired. They smoked, fast. They were just a bit better than two 4830's in Xfire if I remember right. I have been searching for this review for ~1.25hr. or so but can't find it. I thought I had saved the link. The review included quite a few good cards.

I just set this up today and can confirm that it works, it scales really well in xp but in vista it's actually worse with no scaling what so ever. I have sp2 beta on vista installed, going to uninstall that and see if it's any better.

Sounds more like a Vista driver problem than anything else. Maybe try different drivers? 8.12's?

EDIT: Sounds really nice, looking towards those benches!!!!

Ok, uninstalling the beta seemed to do the trick, only tried far cry 2 so far and that wouldn't scale at all with the beta installed. This is at 1920x1200 4xaa ultra high on the small ranch demo. That's a huge boost from what i would get before with 4xaa.

In 3dmark06 I had a score of almost 12000, I don't think that's a good representation of how real world games perform though. Warhead seems to be running better about 15fps more from what I used to get, anyways my case temps went up alot since I added the second card so I guess I'll be getting a new case any suggestions?

Did you overclock the 4830 or are you letting the 4850 down clock to match the 4830?

I'd recommend the HAF 932, the side fan will keep your cards cool.

I honestly dont find that much dust in my case I think a larger fan rotating lower RPMs doestnt collect as much dust..

How else would you cool 2 4850s?

Plus one GPU is always more stable and will give you less headaches than two.

for the rpice, get a stock core 216, oc to to GTX280 speed or beyond.

thats a much better price ratio compared to 4830 cf and less headaches.

I had my side panel opened yesterday and the temp would get up to 60c, after i put the side panel back on it never goes above 45c little wierd. I have both cards running at 700 core and 950 mem, it's a shame crysis and warhead scale poorly with crossfire they're both pretty buggy games though.
