Hi,
Is there a way to see if you got samsung 3,3 or 2,8 on your asus 9600xt without removing the heatsinks?
I have just installed a zalman 700cu on my asus card and eight small heatsinks on the memory chips, and I dont want to remove them again?

Can the card lower the setting without you're noticing it?
Because I put the gpu at 550 and the memory at 330 scanned for artifacts no trouble. But after I played half life 2 for an hour I noticed that setting had changed back to default, can it do that without disturbing the game, I should have noticed some kind of trouble when playing?

Here is one suggestion:

This is how I did it with my ATI card just now to make sure it can work, pretending that I hadn't written down the numbers before I affixed heatsinks.

1. Using ATITool, I dumped the bios file which could then be found at C:\program files\atitool\bios.bin
2. Open the file with notepad. Ignore the garbage characters and look at the first couple of lines. Mine looks like this:

Uªhéý ¨ IBM 761295520 ?? : 2003/11/13 11:53 éš éR DR(7‚
RV360 128M Samsung E-die P/N 113-A03415-103 Overdrive Table BIOS
(C) 1988-2003, ATI Technologies Inc. BK-ATI VER008.015.068.000 ra004957.001 v611 V350AGP DGD1UN OEM VER.000.000 l * l

One way to ID your particular ram is to look at the bios date. 2/26/2004 indicates 2.8ns. 10/23/2003 indicates 3.3 ns. That info was gleaned from http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/
Then you can look at specific info on the previously referenced page to verify a match. As luck would have it there seems to be only those two choices for the Asus 128 MB 9600XT.

Then record all of the info and try not to lose it.

Good question....

All I could find out is that it is probably Samsung 3.3 ns. That info is from a Ukranian forum that I had a professor of mine interpret.
