you know its bad when the "3d" rendering screenshots on te box are from the windows fish screensaver.

EDIT: LOL THERE IS AN OPEN BOX....

Yeah, I saw the open box too. Confirms someone is stupid enough to buy this...

Is it odd though, that I am sitting here wondering if this thing can be unlocked to 6600's like the other 6200's?

Turbocharged SLI performance!

Y'know, if it wasn't so stupidly expensive, I'd have it just for the weirdness of it.

Let's see what we got here, a dual 6200 PCI (not PCI-E) graphics card with 2x512MB RAM on a 64-bit bus. What kind of an abomination is that?!

Does the regular driver even support it?!

I'd love to bench it with & without SLI.

Sorry, it's just too weird and nerdy, I gotta have it...

EDIT: I can just picture Crysis now at 640x480 no AA, no AF, no SLI: 5fps. With SLI: 7fps!!! :rockout:

Doesn't that just make you wanna rush right out and buy one?

To those who use to buy Colorgraphic video cards perhaps? RIP.

No info on their site anymore, but they use to produce 4 and 8-output video cards utilizing multiple ATI GPUs.

Not the biggest of markets, but maybe theres a bunch of legacy PCI/D-Sub multi-monitor systems (screen walls) that need new video cards.

A little research shows that this card isn't SLi! It is just the two 6200 cores running seperately, it seems like it appears as two cards to the OS. The main function of this card is to add the ability to have 4 displays using a single PCI slot. Performance was not a factor. Seems like a very very niche product, which is probably why it is so expensive. Not many people need 4 displays AND only have one PCI slot available, but those that do would probably be willing to pay out the nose for it.

That a GREAT CARD. Stop bashing it. In the corporate world, who gives a flying fook about 3D and DirectX 9 benchmarks or game FPS? What they want are systems to be able to drive 4 hi-res displays simulataneously. The typical trading room does that:

Here's just an example pulled off google:

You can drive the above using 3 of those cards in a regular PC (with 3 PCI slots... actually, getting rarer). LOL

It's also getting common to have TFTs in meeting or training rooms like this:

Only in the above solution, there are multiple PCs. What is preferred is one PC (under the presenters control) with multiple displays. No keyboards, mice, or training required just to attend the meeting. Also much lower cost and more space efficient and no problems about syncing or multiple uploads of data etc.

And boardrooms are doing this:

A digital wall of large screens requiring one PC that can drive 7 screens in the above example.

The problem is that a much better solution for this would be a few PCI and PCI-E cards and a few double or triple head to go boxes.

If we are talking about purpose build machines like this, almost any modern motherboard is capable of it using much cheaper video cards and the cost would come out much lower than throwing multiple $190 video cards in it.

It's also getting common to have TFTs in meeting or training rooms like this:

Very true, however a better option in this situation is a simple DVI or VGA splitter. With 4-Port DVI splitter boxes going for $130, Having one of those and cheap modern card would be much better than having one of these cards.

As I already said, there are much better options for purpose built machines like this that can drive multiple monitors like this. There really isn't any use for a card like this 6200.

it may be that what you suggest is more viable, doesnt mean this 6200 card isnt an adequate solution, which seems to be was lemonasda is getting at.
