phenom 940 to hot

i noticed my hard drive's were a little on the hot side, and came to realize i had 3 front case fans turn the wrong way :banghead:

after doing so, hard drive temps went down from 47c to 39c, but get this cpu temps are way higher then normal 59c load at stock speeds, so i put top to fans back to proper sides, did i damage something in the process, or have a altered to the air flow to create hot spots :confused:

Go for reapplying some paste, hopefully that will solve it. Recheck all of your bios settings and make sure it's not getting overvolted or anything.

lowered vcore to 1.3v rest of voltages set to manual, idle temp is 45c load 59c, before idle 39c load 45c load

jk, Are you using stock cooler The_Real_DeaL31? If it ran at idle 39c load 45c what did you change. Could be the paste like Erocker stated how long you had it running when you had those temps?

Actually Florida 80f ambient temp CPU @ 3.5 ghz 1.36 vcore Idle temp 36c load temp 60c under OCCT or Prime95 etc.

Those are 140w processors man. However AS5 degrades over time and does need to be replaced every 6 months or so. I like MX-2, it's the best paste all around. Great heat transfer, non conductive, non curing, doesn't degrade like AS5 does, easier to clean... and... uhh... well that's about it

Nice and cool here we don't even get in the 90's - mid to low 80's at most. It should be his thermal paste that's if he doesn't have temps that are high inside.

real funny fatal lol, nothing special arctic freezer pro 64, 2 months ago i added some as5 that's all i had at the time, i only put a dap of rice, then spreaded it out the best i could, yes i like mx-2 myself, these high temps only been happening since the past few days

I have an X4 955 with a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and I'm getting load temps of 43-45C (in a case with good air flow). Idles just 8C lower than that.

My Cooler, listed in specs, keeps my 955 idle at 35C and load of 46.5C max. It is cost effective and my room is warm as fuck because I try to save money on the AC unit.

even that said your vcore and cpu clocks are higher then mine, i should have lower temps then u, could it be my 3 front fans are turned the wrong way, i have top 2 fans blade's facing toward back of case, lower fan blade's faced toward front, is this correct

I agree with the LaughingMan...Scythe Mugen II FTW!!! My 940 @ 1.47v runs ~36c Idle and ~52c Load (OCCT 1 HR). Also it is cheap

jatownes i had good temps before even when i was overclocked to 3.6ghz, 1.4750v idle would be low 40's load would only hit 57c now i cant even oc to afraid to

Which CPU cooler will depend on your case and air flow. The bold I quoted you I do not understand how your fans are what case do you have? What is the CFM of each fan in your case. The reason why some have lower temps also is due to their fans on the case.

Example I have this in my antec:
2 – 120mm front fans @ 79 CFM direction of air IN
1 – 200mm fan @ 134CFM direction of air OUT
1 – 120mm rear fan @ 79 CFM direction of air OUT
1 – 120mm midfan @ 72 CFM direction of air IN
1 – 120mm Side Fan @ 89.45 CFM direction of air IN
1 – 120mm x38 Dark Knight @ 133.6 CFM direction of air UP and OUT

Thats my set up could be your case fans not flowing enough air.
