Dual Booting

can someone explain to me the easiest way to dual boot operating systems and what to use to do so? can you dual boot vista and 7?

System Specs

If you are only wanting to stick to Windows, it is pretty easy.

Start with the oldest version of Windows first, and work your way up. Each time, use the Windows installer to partition off a section of your hard drive for the versio of Windows you are installing. If you don't want to deal with partitioning the hard drive, you can install each on a completely different drive.

Yes, you can dual-boot Vista and Win7.

im going to run 7 on one harddrive and vista on another. so do i just unplug each drive until i want to use that operating system?

You can, but that is kind of inconvenient.

Install Vista first, assuming it isn't installed already.

Then install Windows 7, don't unplug the Vista hard drive or anything.

Windows 7 will detect Vista on the other drive during the install. Then when you boot your computer, you will be asked which OS you want to boot.

okay so i need to install vista again got ya. than do 7 and it will ask me everytime? thats pretty cool im going to lose everything i have that sucks but o well it will give me something to do.
