ATI 5800 vs. Nvidia Femi GT300....

I'm sure I will get a lot of slack for making a post like this....(If it already hasn't been done.) Also It's kind of a noob post.... but with the lack of PC gamers in my home community, I couldn't think of a better place to have this debate!
I do realize that Nvidia has not released there new 40nm DX11 based Femi GPU's yet. But as a hypothetical argument who do you think will win this round. ATI 5800/5900 series or Nvidia's GT300 Femi series.
There are no rules on giving your opinion. Weather you think Nvidia will blast ATI with way better performance. Or you think ATI will finally take over with their Price to performance ratio. Please state your opinion and I hope to have some great conversations!

Let me start things off by saying.... I have owned both Nvidia and ATI cards in the past. I perfer ATI but last round ATI got their ars kicked by Nvidia! But my opinion is that ATI will when this round. I will explain my theory more as this post takes off.

If you're a NVIDIA fanboy, Nvidia is gonna win.
If you're an ATI fanboy, ATI is gonna win.

There's no other answer because only God knows what Nvidia will be releasing, there's not even a basis to form an argument.

Not always true I am a person who prefers ATI but... I knew and admitted that ATI would loose last round and the round before that.

I'm pretty sure that the specs have been released on GT300. I know there are a lot of fake specs out but I do belive they have been released.
I don't have time right now because I'm about to leave for a family function. But I think it was Fudzilla that released them as well as others. I will look for the links.

Yeah the architecture has definitely been alluded to, but in my opinion not nearly enough to base any performance estimations off at all.

Hec ATi doubled up on their core and in many game tests the card is only 25-40% faster than a 4890, we can only pray Nvidia do a lot better than that.

Why???

If you a moderator or not I appreciate your opinion but I think that's a real bad reason to close it!

This I'm sure will get me in trouble but right now I'm kinda angry about this...... I didn't realize everyone was so sensitive here!

nobody knows and nobody will know until the GT300 is released

it should be closed because threads like these always turn into flame wars.

That's really unfortunate that people are not grown up enough to talk about these kind of things in a grown up manor! If you can't talk about these things here then were?

I see you are new here so i will bring you up to speed. With a bit of research you can find both the ATI camps side of this threads questions, and what TPU has on the Fermi. Then put two and two together and come up with how that four that you get relates to your needs.

This type of subject is bound to attract fights and random trash posts which have already happened. The word "fanboy" was reared in post #2, and to be honest, it is the most truthful answer you are going to get for your question.

I appreciate that you want to help the community and bring both items for a head to head comparison. It is just that history has already shown that this is not a good idea, and such threads are closed. If I was moderator of this subsection, it would already have been closed.

Just know this isn't an attack on you, but a preventative measure that is the answer to such threads.

absoolutely, we would love if the community could keep a level headed approach as well, but it just doesnt seem to go that way in the end.

@ Mailman, I wasnt pointing fingers, but I like that you step up and take blame like a man

It was a bad discussion last year, it will be a bad discussion this year. Age has only taught us that this is no good.

awh but whats wrong with a lil arguing? lol

however i will definitely correct 20mmrain on his ATI losing the last gen. True with HD 3XXX series they lost, however with HD 4XXX....u gotta be kidding. Nvidia did win by performance the single GPU performance crown and performance in general. However you can hardly say that ATI lost. Q3 of 09 was the last of HD 4XXX reign as ATI's best offer.
Q3 2009 gpu market share
now idk how reliable that source is but it includes all GPU's and as you can see, with the last gen ATI has gained alot of market share compared to what they previously had. Nvidia didn't gain much at all, imo win for ATI.

as for this thread, should be fun until it gets closed

Ahh see this is a great point. I stand corrected!!! Although what I said is true if we are just talking about in pear performance. But if we are talking about performance to the dollar or in performance in other ways what A_ump said is very true.

threads like this only deserve to exist once the fermi/GT300 actually exists - all that can be said now is speculation and fanboyism.

i'm surprised its still as civil as it is, to be honest... these threads normally degrade much faster.

Thread closed - make a new one once fermis actually out!
