My e8400 overclock

After a few days of tweaking!

Dont know If I should push it more. Originally I said I'd just go for 4ghz but meh. Would there be anything wrong with running it at faster speeds even with acceptable voltage 24/7? I'm wanting this pc to last a good while.

Technically using the CPU at all, nye anything electronic I believe, is constantly wearing away at its lifespan, so yes overvolting and running it faster will impact that, but really, in the span that these chips are built to last I think it would be an utter dinosaur before you noticed anything of the sort.

I'd keep it at ~4.4 @ ~1.3v that you have, that's really nice imo.

By the looks of the voltage on that overclock, I think with some decent cooling and some courage you could hit 5Ghz with that chip. By decent cooling I mean extreme water / maybe phase / LN2, but that chip has potential.

BSOD on windows startup with 530x8.5 for 4.5ghz with one notch up on cpu voltage. Dropped it down to 520x8.5 with the lower voltage and its fine.

I'm thinking I need to increase nb or vtt voltages but this board doesn't seem to like high voltages on either. When I had 500x8 I started with 1.35nb 1.2 vtt and it wouldnt post, no keyboard detected error, or just bsod in windows. Dropped them down to 1.24/1.1 and it worked fine.

There's an option in bios called 'Enable N/2 CPU ratio'

I needed to select the multi to 8 first in bios, then enable it. If your multi is selected to 9 in bios then enable n/2 ratio nothing happens, it just stays on 9.

Yeah I know but I thought it had to be supported in the cpu because I know I've tried that with my e8400 on my last DFI board and no go. Also surprised I havent noticed more people using it...

edit: just tried again and it wow. How useful. Can't believe I was under impression it was only certain cpus like the 8500 with a 9.5 and not sure why it didn't seem to work for me last board...
