The best AM2+/AM3 Air cooler

I would like to find a better Heatsink and fan for the AM2+/AM3. I currently have a Phenom II 940 Black Edition and a Tuniq Tower 120. it idles @ 40 deg cel and @ full load its @ 49deg cel.

Is there a better cooler i can use to lower these temps. The 940 will hit 4ghz but you wouldnt want to see the temps that come with it.

My pick is a Noctua NH-U12P, but I have heard awesome awesome things about Prolimatech CPU coolers, but I'm not sure at all if they come with compatibility for AM2+/3

Have you thought about rotating your cooler 90 degrees? That took my temps down 3c (max temps)with a PII 920

That really is a great one. I still have yours cooling my 940 BE.

Another one worth mentioning, though some would complain that it is difficult to install is the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer.

That is a damn good one especially for AMD setups. They also perform quite well in the cooling/dollar category.

I'd recommend a CoolerMaster 690 over the antec 900. If you don't mind a cable mess then by all means get the 900 however.

Yeah I don't see you getting that much more Temp performance with a better air cooler, i would try a case first
Here is my temps with 3x120mm and 1 Xigmatek DK at idle In a Cheap Rosewill Wind Knight (bottom mounted psu)

Checkout the Coolermaster store. They have some sick deals on refurbished cases and I have not once had a refurbished case from them that didn't look brand new out of the box.

39.99: http://cmstore.coolermaster-usa.com/...roducts_id=109

You could also get the Nvidia edition for 64.99, http://cmstore.coolermaster-usa.com/...roducts_id=270. Not worth it to me but green just doesn't agree with me

There are many other bottom mounted PSU cases you could look at.

And that's prime 95, any other app won't get it that hot unless it's a stress test
