What's up with Firefox?

Currently on destop it's using 70-85% cpu (E8400 @ 4Ghz)
I noticed my mouse kinda slow-responding.
Weird?

Think I found out the problem. Though it doesn't make much sense...

Occasionally one of my hard-drives doesn't load (it doesn't appear in My Computer and if I try to click a short cut of a program in it I get that the link isn't found).

Now whenever that happens, my CPU kinda goes crazy.

In fact, even after I shut down FF, CPU usage was kept around 80%. What's weirder is that it shows 80% in the Task Manager graph, and my pc starts kinda lagging a bit, whereas in the task manager processes there's no process occupying its use and I see 99% system idle process.

But yeah, this happens everytime whenever my second HDD decides not to show up.

Just cleaned up my flatmate's computer. After about 5 to 10 minutes of browsing his computer became unresponsive with mouse laging and all that. It stopped is you disconnected.

Apparently his NOD32 somehow got disabled and I coudn't re-enable it. I disabled the internet access after installing malware bytes and AVG and did a system scan. Found a nice coctail of over 150 viruses/trojans/etc. And that all acumulated in a period of just a few weeks of unprotected browsing.

CPU usage of 80% sure is kind of strange, unless maybe your antivirus/antimalware software kicks in. That still does not explain such high CPU usage though

i never had that problem with FF, though it sounds like some sort of malicious infection if there's nothing in task manager taking up that many processes. Only problem i had with FF is it kept having moments of un-responsiveness. I now use Chrome and like it very much.

do u run vista? if so check and see what the resource monitor says for CPU usage of tasks, dunno if it'd show anything more than task manager or not.
