Just hooked up a msi 4870 1gb and when I check my bios in the editor I get the following warning YOU HAVE NOT CONNECTED ONE OF YOUR VIDEO CARD POWER CONNECTORS TO THE POWER SUPPLY. PLEASE REFER TO THE 'GETTING STARTED GUIDE' FOR PROPER HARDWARE INSTALLATION. Both 4 pin connectors are connected to the card,I don't get any warning when I boot up and all games and benches run fine. Could this be something in the editor that I'm missing?

Shouldnt the connectors to the 4870 be 6pin or 8pin not 4pin?

That is supposed to be there. Self explanatory if you ask me ...

It's the text that displays when you don't have it connected to the power supply.

I say pull the card and the power pins, reseat the card, plug in the power pins and make sure they snap into place.

Then reboot and see if you get that same message.

If that message does not pop up during the boot sequence, the cables are connected just fine. The computer won't even start if those cables aren't connected.

Exactly what I was gonna say. That's the text that the card will show if the power connectors are not connected. You can try this out by unplugging one of the plugs. So you don't have anything to worry about.

I imagine that if they are connected but the card is still not getting enough power, it would still display that message. Some of the 12v rails in your PSU may have died so it cannot supply the power necessary to run it.

umm .. so you thought the place to edit the error message text in the bios editor was an actual live error message ?
