In need of a new mouse!

Greetings TPU,

I've been wanting a new mouse for some time, but I absolutely adore my Logitech MX1000.
However, for a while now, it has started to be a bit sluggish in responding, and lately, stops responding on movement or mouse gets "stuck" when clicking if it's more than 40cm away from the receiver.

So, I've been looking at alot of new mice (So to speak), but am having a hard time finding anything of my liking.

The reason I like the MX1000 is it's size, and I personally think it's very comfortable.
The biggest "fear" in a new mouse for me would be that it's small and not as comfortable as my MX1000.

So I'd like some ideas on what I could get from you guys?

I'd really like a corded mouse this time.
I've personally been looking on a Logitech G5, Razer Copperhead, Razer Diamondback 3G and the Razer Naga.

The G5 looks a lot like the MX1000, or so it seems at least, from screenshots.
I really like the Razer Naga (Being a World of Warcraft gamer), but I'm not too trusty on it's comfort (Where the hell do I put my thumb on this thing?)

And I have really no clue on the other two razers. Any info you guys could share, or maybe suggest some other ones?

Thanks in advance,
-Valen

P.S. I might add that I've had the MX1000 for just about two years I think.

If you don't like small mice, don't go Razer. I got one on the cheap after running on a mx518 and immediately went back to my trusty Logitech because I prefer a bigger mouse.

Then a gain, mice are one of those things that you have to try out instead of depending on opinions in my opinion. No one else knows how you like a mouse to "feel," so it can be a bit of trial and error. I'll probably wear out this MX518 and then buy another one.

Well, the only good mouse I've ever used it the MX1000, I bought it about the same time I build my current computer, which was my first computer (apart from my laptop).

So I'm not quite sure how to explain what I like, all I can say is that I love my MX1000, apart from the fact that it's wireless and that it is damned heavy.
I'm also not sure that I like that it is so "tall". I love that it is broad, but it feels too high. (I frequently get wrist pains from using it, because my hand is often in a weird position when holding it).

The Deathadder is much longer than the G9. One of the reasons me and my longass fingers are using the Deathadder now.

For some reason the G9 looks really....weird to me. It looks so small and bulky and not useful at all (Not saying it is, it just looks like it)

Ever try this mouse? Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical

If you want the gaming grade version of this with more functionality, get the new SteelSeries Xai, same great shape and a lot more features.

The measurements of the Xai are 5 x 2.5 x 1.7, I measured my Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical and the measurements are exactly the same.

SteelSeries Xai looks nothing like the Razer Mamba to me.

the SteelSeries Xai uses the new Avago 9500 Sensor the same Sensor used in the Logitech G500 and G9x. it can equally track at 6 metres a second by 100,000 counts a second like the Philips Twin-Eye in the Razer Mamba but is much more reliable.

the Xai is a big improvement over the Ikari. it has a auto-adjusting lift feature. the LCD is higher resolution and instead of just displaying profile name and cpi it has a scrollable menu in it which has almost every single driver feature in it except creating macros and profiles like you can edit jitter and prediction values, edit freemove values, edit cpi increments in 1 for both x and y axis, edit polling rate in increments of 1. the configuration of this mouse is impressive.

SteelSeries uses mechanical wheels and tact switches in their mice which are far better in my opinion than optical wheels and microswitches. mechanical wheels are less durable but are not prone to malfunctions or performance issues due to the exposure of dirt. tact switches are quieter and have a higher response time for example my Ikari Buttons average 4.6ms where a DeathAdder microswitches average 8.6ms but like mechanical keyboards not everybody likes the tactile feedback. looks like they are using the 0.5mm PTFE Feet the same ones on the Ikari for the Xai which are heavy duty compared to Razer stock feet so you won't have to go out and purchase Mouse Skates or a PTFE Sheet right away.

and since SteelSeries is a Danish Company I don't think I need to sell you on it if I haven't already

I was thinking more the form of the mouse itself and the positioning of the two side buttons.

the side buttons on the Diamondback 3G are truly unique they are not separated, 1 piece but 2 buttons.

I like them because once your thumb sweats it can get slippery and can have faster access. the buttons are stiff, have a tactile feedback. I don't like soft buttons with no tactile feedback they are alright for browsing but in-game they can cause accidents. my Ikari has side buttons but I don't really use them in-game I find they are too much micromanagement for my hand all you need is fire, alt fire and a scroll wheel.

My MX1000's button also have tactile feedback, which I really like. All this soft squishy stuff isn't for me.

razer mice are nice, the microsoft sidewinder was probably my favorite mouse, and although I havent tried it myself, ive heard good things about the G9. If you are planning for the G5, go for the G9 instead.

I moved from a G7 (wireless version of the G5) to a G9 and i'm really pleased i did. The shape looks really odd and i didn't think the mouse would be very good but it's a lot better than my G7 was, so i can reccomend the G9.

no offense to any1 here, but all the mouse advice, as far as the comfort level, really depends on what type of grip the OP is using.
i have a steelsieries ikari optical, and while i love the mouse, its designed for a palm grip, while i use a claw grip. as a result i get wrist and some arm pains, as well as general discomfort in using it
i just got a razer deathadder today, and while i havent used it yet, i have set my hand on it, and it feels like heaven

If you liked MX1000 (I also love the shape of that mouse), why not the MX1100 successor?

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mi...676&cl=roeu,en

Or maybe the new (although more expensive) Performance Mouse MX?

The DA is a palm grip mouse.

if Razer had a signature on their mice it would be sloped buttons. so maybe thats why people have problems with them.

I would say it's for a firmer grip on the mouse but I guess it doesn't work out well for everyone. I half palm half claw my mouse and the DA was just not for me, though the similar shaped MS I.E. 3.0 was awesome.
