Why Win 7 as Vista gets DX 11?

I have DX 11 on my rig running Vista. I know I still need a new ATi 5K card for DX 11, but I don't see the need to buy Win 7 now.

Sure, for quite awhile I pissed at both 32/64 Vista as Win Explorer would lock up at any given time. That has been fixed and now I am happy with Vista. I felt the necessity to upgrade to Vista for DX 10 and the new look. The new look of Win 7 looks like Vista to me. I am happy Vista gets DX 11 as Win 7 doesn't seem a necessity for the gamer in me.

So why spend the $ on Win 7 when that $ can be going towards a sweet ATi 5K card? Or you could spend the $ saved on a copy of MW2.

for those on XP (and being a student) i was offered Win7 Professional for £30 , which retails in the UK for like £100. so i took up the offer. thats my reason.
Also i know that Win7 is what vista should have been in the first place

If you look at Microsoft's Top 10 Reasons to Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 you will see that there are no real compelling reasons to upgrade if you are happy with Vista.

I was coming for Windows XP Professional. I will list the reasons I chose to upgrade to 7:

I like the eye candy of 7
I have 4GB of RAM, and I was purchasing a new graphics card. Thus, in Windows XP, I would have only been able to use ~2.5gb of my memory
I could get Windows 7 Professional for $30 because I'm a student. This deal ends at the end of December, so I wanted to get it before it was too late
Although I consider myself pretty responsible about what I download, I will admit that I sometimes do make mistakes, and I wanted a more secure operating system

Despite the reasons above, I wouldn't upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista. Vista will do everything is listed above, and, honestly, an OS reinstall is a nuisance

A lot of people never jumped to Vista, so going from XP to 7 makes sense. Windows 7 pretty much is Vista, just reworked from the ground-up. Think of it is breaking up a really bad road and totally redoing it (reworking Vista into 7) rather than dumping tar all over the place and patching up the potholes (service pack).

I was using Vista for about a year, and after alot of tweaking I was pretty happy with how it performed. I did the switch to the RTM when it was released and personally I can't say that I find win 7 faster or more user friendly. I haven't lost or gained any productivity but it deffenately doesn't require so much tweaking to get the most out of it.

Plus when I have to work on a mint XP machine(that blue taskbar grrrrr), I feel like I've gone through a time machine - fuuugly

I was using Vista since launch up until last week i got 7, Honestly i have had some annoying problems as my wireless card stops picking up internet but says the driver is fine. Sometimes i get random reboots. Had to reinstall windows 7 three times just to install 3dmark Vantage.

Just little annoying tidbits like that, but all in all its a pretty snappy OS. But honestly if you have Vista and it is fine for you keep it until there are real advantages with 7.

I do know that 7 is a lot quicker opening things up and doing stuff. in my personal opinion anyway

Good marketing line.

Windows 7 is Windows 7, Vista is Vista, XP is XP, Millennium was Millennium.

That being said...

After you get used to Windows 7, it is quite nice, it is also faster than Vista, across the boards and quicker than XP if you have a CPU of even high level P4s.
