9600GSO renamed?

Hi!

I wonder where all the 9600GSO cards are gone here in Finlands shops... was the card renamed to GT210 or GT220 ?

well . . . . long story short, don't buy a GSO, unless you research you can get many versions of it,(and some are terrible) they are,

9600GSO(12rops 96sp's) to 9600GSO(16rops 48sp's) to 9600GSO(8rops 48sp's+DDR2) I think the new GT220 is supposed to replace the newest slowest 9600GSO.

Edit

I think theres a 96sp with 8 rops too, that should be em all

The product has met end of life for Nvidia. The GT2xx series is 45nm and is leading the way for Fermi.

GT210 is slower than 9400GT and GT220 slower than 9500gt. So 9600gso would blast both of them.
9600gso almost twice as fast compared to 9500GT.

This.

Unfortunately they killed off one of the best price to performance ratio cards ever. The original 9600GSO(8800GS) was probably one of the best mid-range cards released in a good while. It was extremely cheap, going for under $40 new, performed just under an 9800GT(could overclock to match a 9800GT), consumed little power.

It is one of those cards that never really got the recognition it deserved. Intead it was cast in a negative light thanks to all the renaming crap.

About the GeForce 210 and GT220, there are 210s with GDDR2 and an Inno3D branded one with DDR3, and the GT220 can have GDDR2, DDR3 or GDDR3. The reason why the new ones are slower is because of the memory bus. The 9400GT is basically the same core-wise as the 210, but the 210 has half the memory bandwidth. The GT220 has the same memory bus, but the extra 16sp are somewhat negated by the memory bandwidth. I think NVIDIA was expecting to use GDDR5 on these babies, but their GDDR5 controllers are bugged. That's probably why they have cut-down memory buses on them.
