Do you think this can handle Windows 7...

My brothers computer which I built years ago for myself and gave to him, has a P4 @ 2.66GHZ, and 2 GB of RAM. He doesn't do any sort of gaming or really much of anything, just web browsing, and Microsoft Office programs. He is not the best when it comes to keeping his PC clean, I keep telling him to avoid the porn websites but he always ends up with spyware. I always used XP to reinstall since it's an older system, but I think maybe it can handle Windows 7 if I turn down some of the graphic settings on it. I figure Windows 7 is a little more secure and can baby sit him so I don't have to clean the PC out quite as often.

I'm a little surprised to hear that, but then again I guess not. I just had it in my head for some reason that it wasn't going to handle it well. Thanks for the info!

I still think he will be getting crap regardless of what Windows OS he uses. If its the baby sitting your worried about tell him to get malware bytes and run it once a week and he will be fine.

One more thing. What GPU does your brother have. I had issues running the Aero with an Nvidia IGP 8200. If his GPU is dedicate, he should be fine, but a 3 year old IGP has no change at running Aero without being really choppy.

Yes his system will be fine on windows 7.
As for the baby sitting +1 on the malware bytes.
When you get windows 7 setup for him get malware bytes and set it to run auto every week and he should be good to go.

It'll be fine. Windows 7 runs just as well or better than XP. Maybe try Home Basic if you're really worried about performance.
