Help Slowing Down Case Fans
So I got a 2 cooler master LED fans for my case, and installed them. Unfortunately they run quite loud, is there anyway I can lower their speed?
Also, they are connected directly to the power supply, not the mobo. Motherboard AOD790GX Thanks |

You can buy some pre-made resistor to drop it from 12v to 5v that plug in between the psu and fan but i dont see them often over here in the uk. You could always drop round your local hardware/electronics strore and make some yourself if you have the tools and knowledge.

Do the old fashion mod by swapping the wires in the molex plug. Here is a thread with pictures. I prefer the 5v, as there is no issues like the 7v mod may have. The fans slow down a lot though= low cfm.

If they are connected directly to the PSU, no. The third wire on the fan plugs for the mobo is the fan voltrage control line. If your fan has power from the PSU and a separate line (just that yellow third wire) you can connect it to the mobo and use a software fan control.
And my late post stands corrected. |
