Massive Crysis Artifacts...Possible GFX Card Death?

Not sure if this is the correct forum but I've recently installed Crysis again after a year of when i used to play it on the same hardware with no problems.

I install it this time, and to my dismay, artifacts galore.

I have tried all graphic settings, I have reapplied thermal grease to my cards heatsink, reinstalled the game and drivers with no luck.... Does this mean my card is finally dying???

SPEC:
CPU - Q6600 : 2.40GHZ
RAM - 2GB DDR2 Ballistix
GFX - ATi Radeon X1950Pro AGP
MOBO - ASrock 4coredual-sata
PSU - Corsair 620w

PS. i dont overclock
PS2. i have also installed Crysis Warhead with the same results. No other games give/gave me artifacts apart from these two.

What graphics driver version are you using? I've usually seen issues with missing textures on older ATI cards with driver problems.

agree with jstn. its more likely to be a driver problem than a dying card.

Same here, looks like a texture problem, but judging from the specs you posted your running everything on low/med ?

To be honest i dont think an X1950Pro AGP is ideal for this kinda game

Yeah, an X1950 Pro is a little bit faster than the 7800 GS that I played Crysis on, and it was so slow. If you have to stick with that somewhat icky motherboard, I would suggest a 3850 AGP which is loads better. Yes, i'm sure that your board has a PCIe slot, but it only has 1/4 of the lanes of a real PCIe x16 slot. However, if you buy a new card and then expect to buy a new motherboard, I would go PCIe.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I can play Crysis on med - high @ 1280 surprisingly well, i did about one year ago... All thats changed since then is my drivers and on Windows7 its almost impossible to downgrade drivers but ill give it a shot... And are they missing textures? As i move my mouse around the anomalies change shape drastically and all come from the island as you are sky diving from the plane... Ill report back when i get the older drivers back on. Thanks

Are you running win 7 and a 1950? I understood that ATI was not officially supporting directx 9 for win 7 as it is a different architecture. I think you can still you Vista drivers for it.

Can anyone clarify if this could be an issue.

it could be a motherboard issue I had that board and I remember with some games its not stable and will give artifacts, make sure the motherboard bios is up to date.
