OK so basically a 57XX and a 58XX DOES NOT work Zubasa is dead on.... Only 5850 and 5870 will work.

no... no it won't . I thought it would work, but it doesnt... you would need to buy the 5850 for it to work.

The 5770 CFX wont beat a 4870x2 unfortunately... :/

In CFX, we can bet on it to improve with better drivers.
You can see that the 5850 beats the GTX 285 hands down 1 on 1, but when its CFX vs SLI, in 3Dmark Vantage the GTX 285 wins.
CFX and SLI are usually very close in scaling, so we can blame on the drivers this time.

The 5770 loads @mid-70s, which is rather cool compare to your 2900Pro (with stock cooler that is) anyways.

one 5850 would be way enough. Hell of an card I might add and what goes to physics 8600GT or some really really low power consumption (no PCI-E cables) & cheap card would probably do just fine. Not worth to spend cash for nothing plus the fighting to get it actually working.
There are actually some people right now in other forums doing testing on just how big of an effect does the quality of card have on physX framerates. i don't have the link unfortunately but early results are showing anywhere from a 10-15 fps increase by taking a gts 250 and above card and dedicating it to physX processing. There were still a lot of outside variables but those initial findings are quite interesting. I have 250's in sli right now and will more than likely be switching to one of the big guns from ATI (model number escapes my mind right now as I've been doing physics and biochemistry homework for the past 3 hours lol being a "computer nerd" is my study break) and I'll be keeping one of them just for the physX benefit

Yeah, well considering I haven't seen a single cool effect from PhysX as of to-date can't exactly say it's bonus. I got here like 9800GTX which I consider to be better version of 250, heh, no matter how stupid that sounds also have here Gainward Golden Sample 8600GT and ATI 5850 x 2 setup.

As I've checked:
* We have no games on PhysX (and none which wouldn't work as fast on todays CPUs)
* We have no effects on PhysX worth buying (just for a personal opinion of how stupid atm PhysX simply looks from begin with).

So, I wonder where would we need PhysX in any case now or the future. Perhaps IF for some reason in some distant future NVIDIA could make someone build an PhysX effects which would actually be in bare able levels sure. I'm seriously begining to get bored to fluid, clothing and shattered glass(which we already had very very much before PhysX).

but hey that's all just my opinions hench why I do not even bother keeping an 9800GTX as 3rd card on box.

on homework and biochemisty home work I order you to take a look to OpenCL and tesselation.
