I have been looking around and the 7100 does seem to have this issue. had to search under the build number bugs to find it. Issues with two harddrives and multiple OS's installed and security management.

Same as any other type of ram, 4GB, but it will probably only use 2.75-3.5GB. The tyoe of ram doesn't matter at all. The limit is the same if you have DDR, DDR2, or DDR3.

Editing high def videos, from a camcorder, camera, editing photos eith native software, old file system that limits the ability of the OS, and yet optomized for SSD? WTF, over.

Few users have SSD's besides a few laptops, and some enthusiest market. Many people are getting the newer camcorders with high def movie formats, and the software that comes with it isn't the best alot of times, for what a user will have to pay for a copy of 7 if/when they bought Vista as the new groove, they got fucked. I say this and have/do use both, did beta on both, and tried finding the good in both.

7 is much better about finding hardware, and system stability and maintainance, but still has a few bugs and a couple security holes that need a permanent fix.

Anyone else having a weird system hang after the system is not used for awhile? No it isn't suspension or any other power saving measure, just a hang after the mouse is moved, no errors are reported, no other logs indicate a problem, it just hangs for a minute. With or without F@H running, with or without overclock/timings/power.

The mouse moves, but no GUI response, and after a minute or when it decides to get it together, it works fine still.
i DID have that.

it was related to installing some program that didnt uninstall correctly, but i cant remember what it was... i think a codec pack or DVD playback software, actually.

i ran CCleaners registry doodad and it all went good.

They make the software yet their "new" fangled operating system it does not work with. Yeah, I'm going to buy yet another Virus protection software program. Thanks MS.

Stay with Vista for now. I feel a lot like a beta tester. Things will probably improve in time.
Onecare doesn't work because they are going to stop supporting it in 2010. However there is no need to buy a new anti-virus because Microsoft now offers a new FREE virus protection program called "Microsoft Security Essentials" or aka "MSE". Heres a link.

Microsoft Security Essentials

If you are like me you also used Onecare to backup your system. If this is the case don't sweat it. Windows 7 has a built in backup tool that works exactly like Onecare. So basicly you get everything Onecare had to offer but for free with Windows 7.

I like it so far. I really don't like that you can't turn off the UAC for single programs, but I guess I have to live with that. Otherwise it's all good. It's also as snappy as a fresh XP install, and that makes me happy.

I like it, it feels smoother and quicker, it certainly is on startup however I personally dont find any improvements in running apps or games, in fact some games seem to take longer to load up however I only have 3GB of memory so that may be something to do with it. I run a dual boot system with Vista and running benchmarks in both sees no performance gains but as I said, that might be down to 3GB Ram or the clutter on my HDD's, overall though, more than happy.

odds are the load speeds are slower due to superfetch - vista would have had more time to cache stuff.

I have it on my HTPC and it is apporx 1million times better than vista was. Especially the Media centre.

-My auzentech soundcard works WAY better and sounds great.
-My TV tuner is quicker and even displays channel info now. Vista wouldn't.
-The overall look of media centre is way better in 7.
-The networking is better/easier.
-Its more responsive than vista.

love it!!

I'm going to be Dual Booting Vista 64 and Windows 7 64 here in the next few days when I get my Hands on a Copy of 7. I have heard 7 is very solid, so I'm going to give it a shot.

I'm liking it - it doesn't seem faster than Vista 64 for me, but the fact it has better SSd optimisations and chooses to use "real" cores before putting programs on my HT/SMT cores makes it a lot more effective in the way it uses the hardware available, which is always good

I upgraded my XP pc to Win 7, but I'll stick with Vista on my laptops. I never had any big problems with Vista..(but hey, I worked 2 full years with windows ME ) So far I'm loving Win 7, but it's just a vista+ for me. The only bugs I encountered was a savegame dir that got deleted (in-game crash..) and sometimes my usb mouse doesn't work at startup.

Ghostbusters works great on the I7 in Win 7 so maybe it is system specific to the little triple core Phenom 8750 system I've been testing Win 7 with.
Have you tried the suggestion made by Steam? If the game isn't aware of UAC, it could well hang like that.

Windows 7 is the best OS, I have ever used. It simply my daily work. I am so addicted to it that today I was right clicking taskbar icon in Windows XP to get jumplist (forget that I am using old friend). It is working great with my hardware + software, although I am using 64-bit for the first time. Jumplists + Aero shake are the most favorite features, I use frequently. I have no problem with performance or compatibility, no BSOD, no crash, no hang. I simply love it.

Ive been running 7 as my main OS since the first beta got leaked (was it 7000 or 7100?) and I adore it. I sold my vista disc pretty much the minute 7 had a finished installing, its just a great, solid, well performing OS. It blows XP and Vista out of the water in terms of aesthetics, its easier to use than the previous two and its competitively priced, especially if your a student like myself.

Id give it 9 / 10, the one point missing due to my lack of funds and being unable to buy it right now.

Wow Im surprised most of ppl finally put a RiP at XP which has done a very good job as an OS for quite a few years. I think there is still much room for OS evolution and we will see more and more solutions pop out within next decade the question is are we willing to change our old XP habbits ?

I think your problem was likely to be solved by this. Myself, I just turn off User Annoyance Control and everything works fine.

All I had to do was set Steam to always Run as Administrator and it worked fine. Thanks.

So a lot of my issues have been worked out already by switching some hardware around and tweaking some software. I replaced the Audigy SE with an X-Fi Exremegamer and Ghostbusters ran fine even though it runs so slow with AMD CPUs compared to I7 920s. BUT AT LEAST NOW IT WORKS. I'm satisfied with 7.
