Lol, all the card's I've been getting are progressively heavier. Have to be careful for my PCIe slot's sake, not to shake the case to much on the way to and from LAN Parties, lest the card should yank it outta the board.
The 5970, 4870x2 & GTX295 must weigh the same as bricks!!
Well, screwing the card tight on both slot covers makes it tight like hell! That card will not budge.

On top of that the 5870's cooler is actually bolted to the slot plate and the back plate
So the 5970 will most likely be just as solid.

Yeah, definitely. Have been doing that ever since when. The plastic clips that hold the add-on cards just don't cut it, especially not for cards like gfx cards that you plug cables to and from. Not bolting them is a quick route to some nice roasted parts.

Radeon 5990 or 5980 coming?

Well i dunno if they might but with the recent release of 5970 proving to be heck allota fast than another card, i wonder if ati will go for a radeon 5980 and 5990 because it seems to go with the pattern, but they might not but would be sweet if they do cause that would be kickass!

There was a rumor that there was suppose to be a 4gb version of the 5970 that is the eyefinity version. If the 5870 eyefinity version is labeled as a 5950, then I'd guess a 5970 version would be 5980 or 5990.

There is no "renaming" and yes it was stupid (but profitable) that Nvidia did it. There will be a HD 5950 which is two 5850 cores on one card. 2gb versions of the 5870 will be coming at some time, but they are having enough trouble keeping their current lineup in stock. There will probablly be some sort of 5890 down the road too.

I forgot to say that you can get more power with 2 hd 5770 in crossfire instead with just one 5850 and this one is a litle more expensive.

nah... not when you take OC'ing into account... those 5850 are little banshees, every review I've seen breaks 1000Mhz core with stock cooler and a little voltage love.

ATI did a phenomenal job with this series. The 5770's are indeed awesome though... no doubt.

You may beat them in some benches, but single GPU is usually overall more solid/smoother/faster than a matching dual setup.

I have tested both and if you search on web you can figure that the 5770x2 beats a single 5850. I have a hardware store so i know what i´m saying, but i didn´t tested the 5850 cf because they are all gone . Even now the last one i have tested.

If you have a low budget to spend and want a good graphic card you go for 2 5770 and you wont be regret it. RIP Nvidia
