Actually ATi aimed for $299 and below for 5850 and $399 and below for the 5870.

Later it retailed for $260 and $379 respectively.

When I got my 5870 for $373 my friend laughed @me and say he will get it @3/4 of the price 2 months later.
Now I wonder who is laughing his ass off.

Right now the price is simply ridiculous.

hey guys I was wondering if Asus have shipped their 5970 video cards and is there any place where I can buy it online or preorder it !! I am hardcore asus fan and want only to buy their version of graphic cards but so far google and most of the online stores have faild me in finding one

It will. Thier backend systems are quite good (not perfect though). I have to wait till next Tues for the XFX 5850 to arrive - it shipped from CA.

The Sapphires seem to be coming from Edison, NJ - so you should be in luck. They're a little slow with the shipping and tracking numbers. When you get that, You'll know.

i just installed a 9800gt... playing left 4 dead 2 maxed and capped at 60fps.. until BC 2 comes out i really dont need one of these newer ones. . need more games!

I'm just going to wait till this supply issue gets sorted out so there are plenty of cards in most, if not all, 5000 models in stock...In the mean time my 4890 is running just fine. If I get antsy, maybe I'll look for a good deal on another one and CF it. I saw a great deal on a HIS 4890 with a non-reference cooler for around $175 and $145 after a MIR....which both of those would fit in my present case.
When I do move up to the 5970, I'll definitely need a new and bigger case.....hopefully by that time prices will have eased back a bit (on everything). Prices seem to be going up on a lot of components lately.
