After the horror stories of Wii owners destroying their expensive 60" televisions, Nintendo seems to have gotten the message that the lawyers are going to come knocking at their door soon so they've released a new strap for the Wii controller. The photo seems to show clearly enough that one of the straps is noticeably thicker - most likely to make it stronger. Hopefully the Wii will now cause less destruction, after all Nintendo wouldn't want to steal Sony's crown for the most dangerous products.

I would like to see that to. In a way, they propagated it because some numbnutts doesnt know how to keep a grip on his wiimote and also to take a break and dry his hands or what have you. Then again, if the damn thing wasnt so addictive, this wouldnt be a huge problem at all. I See both sides, with Nintendo being drug through because it has money to spend and get folks new tvs.

What I don't understand about all this nonsense about straps breaking and flying through tv's. Is that why the hell are they not HOLDING ONTO THE REMOTE. So not only does the strap break, but they lose complete grip on wiimote???? Does anyone see this from my point of view here?

Some people have really sweaty hands. When me and my cousin play, lets say a single player game and take turns, whenever I play after him, his controller is wet...some people sweat a crazy amount, and that's just enough to lead to a flying controller.

Predictable.

Well when you have sweaty hands are hyped up on sugar and you HAVE to beat Zelda before you get your hands on the new Super Smash Brothers game you get a little excited. I personally can't play nintendo because the games just seem to childish or dulled down for the nintendo. I am sure theres plenty of Wiitards (not to be confused with E-Tards...wiitards have a remote) out there jumping up and down with Glee as the Italian Plumber from brooklyn with a mushroom problem goes deeper into his Psilocybin trip. I mean it was bound to happen.

Give me a mouse and keyboard anyday :pimp:

I agree, I own a wii and its quite a bit of fun. These controllers can take quite a beating, I recently slammed one into the TV stand here (was bowling at 1:00 AM vs friends) But I do agree that it should be reinforced. I do believe 90% of those tv breaking stories are complete bs, I have yet to see that happen. Also if you look at the physics of a wriststrap and it snapping, it has an incredibly low probability of hitting the TV that is directly in front of you no matter 40" or 60". It would take nearly a perfect accident to break a LCD screen with a wiimote.

That website is bullshit. How the fuck does a laptop screen get broken by a Wiimote? Laptop sitting open next to tv? People just take pictures of their wiimotes then find a pic of a broken TV.

The remote doesn't always go flying in the direction of the TV. This is a serious problem, one that wouldn't exist if Nintendo didn't implement such a bullshit controller design, or at least put a little more thought into it.

However, I have found that the little rubber "wiimote booties" are much better at preventing this than any strap. It would have just been smart for Nintendo to put small rubber grips on the wiimote so that no matter how sweaty you get, you still have a good grip on the controller.

Those things are the best investment I ever made, if only I had made it before it cost me a $500 reciever.:banghead:

Oh please, there is not even a need to swing it with blunt force.

This probably describes it best :p
