Processor AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE @ 4.0Ghz
Motherboard MSI 790FX-GD70
Cooling Corsair H50 Liquid Cooling
Memory 2 x 2Gb Gskill Ripjaws 1600Mhz (7-7-7-24@1.6V)
Video Card(s) Asus GTX 470 @ Stock (Zalman VF3000 cooler)
Storage 2 x Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB (RAID 0)
Display(s) Hanns G 28" @ 1920x1200
Case Antec 1200
Audio Device(s) Onboard -- TosLink --> Z5500
Power Supply Corsair 850TX 850W PSU
Software Win 7 64-bit Ultimate
Motherboard is MSi 790FX-GD70
RAm is Gskill Ripjaws. FSB: DRAM ratio is set at Auto so RAM is running at 1333Mhz.
Timings its running at is 9-9-9-24. Rated to run at 7-7-7-24.

Processor details:

I start off by bumping my Multiplier up by to x18 (default is x17), and make the following changes to temps

If I run prime 95 stress test, one or more of the workers fail within 2min. Temps, at this point, are about 42 degrees.
According to Everest, my motherboard temperature was 28 degrees.

your voltage for your cpu seems a little high for 3.6ghz. On my 965 i only need 1.35v for 3.8ghz

Ok, I'll try bringing it down a little. Never thought too much voltage would be a problem, except for heat of course.

Brought down the voltages. Will do stress test now

Also, please note two things:

1. My 965 is the 140W version.
2. My Prime95 blend tests fail, but Small FFTs test does not.

________________________________________________________________________

Again, Prime95 blend test failed within a few minutes with worker 4 stopping.

Temp at time of failure was 38 degrees. With lowered voltages, processor is now idling at 28 degrees.

Just realized my CPU's default temp is 1.425. Set it to that and all other voltages to default and running stress test again.

Got it running stably at 3.6. Going to try bumping multiplier by one more step.

________________________________________________________________________

Bumping multiplier to 19 required a slight voltage increase. Got a BSOD w/o it. Running stably at 3.8 now. Geez, this wasn't that hard! Dunno why i was so stumped by it earlier.

EDIT

The stable OC above is the last stable OC I'm getting. From here, I tried increasing multiplier by 0.5 to 19.5 and bumped CPU voltage to 1.475 from 1.450, but I get a BSOD even before I can start a stress test. Temperature wise I still have headroom. What should I be doing now?
