Its up to you PT. honestly, Id keep the AMD, but if you can get a C2D and clock the hell out of it, I dont see why not. Im personally waiting for the Phenom to come out to gauge if Im going to that or stepping up to AM2. That way, there should be a nice price cut on them, moreso than now.

I think you need to look at what is a better situation for you.

I have always found it ridiculous that someone would buy and inferior product just because its an AMD, ATI, INTEL or whatever.

I think whatever you think you could get the most performance out of, thats what you need to get.

Personally, I suggest Intel setup... just because you can go upto the C2D soon, and we all know thats a great CPU

I'd say wait till you can afford your C2D setup completely and aviod getting that P4. You'll only lose performance from that P4. I do enjoy the c2d experience, and the overclocking is amazing, so is the performance. But why can't you just wait two weeks and get your c2D setup then? I see no feasable point to buy 2 processors just to end up with the better one in short time...if that was my choice or wait, I'd wait.

I vote C2D if you can wait, keep AMD if ya can't, maybe upgrade to a better AMD proc and clock that up!

That is a nice "all in one" motherboard too.

It supports a Quadcore and with those prices dropping to ridiculous prices in July. I would go with that MB.

I'd say it all depends on what you're gonna do with the system. AM2's are wicked cheap and OC like crazy, I honestly just upgraded from 939 to AM2 and I love the difference... I want a C2D or C2Quad, but from what I hear about the AM2's going to be upgradable to quad core Phenom's, I would just go for AMD all the way. I mean hey, can you grab a decent C2D for under $100? AMD's AM2 line is dirt cheap.. dual core 3600+ x2 duel core for like.. $80.. a NICE motherboard.. $120, ram $140 for 2GB of Corsair XMS thats basically a new system for $340, plus there are always mail in rebates and stuff.. 8800GTS 320MB for $280.. on a $600 budget you could get a potentially SICK and highly OCable AMD rig that'll keep you up to date until prices drop more, and new technology comes out..

Can you test the board for overclocking before you trade? I think you may be disapointed if you trade, but the board ends up not overclocking well.

i already tested the board, not bad, but needs a special modified bios, i'm thinking (as you said) to only buy when i got money for the c2d, i REALLY don't wan't to mess with another prescott...
