Bought it this morning... I have the 24" WS Dell - even if I set the resolution to 1600x1200, I'll still see only part of the game?

I didnt notice this on my widescreen 32" CRT TV  I will check it out in a minute

Im glad Ive got a standard 19" monitor on my PC now :D

SO basically 2K have done a 'pan & scan' job on the game, which is whats done with movies when made full screen instead of widescreen

Beat me too it!

What a jip - was thinking that it didn't look right when I started playing and taking screen shots. :(

It'll probably be fixed in the first patch. I'll have ago at editing the game's .ini file.

So fair it hasn't liked me messing with the .ini - it dropped my frame rate when I altered it. :(

The game isn't released for another 3 days so hopefully 2K will get on to it ASAP and sort this crap out before it's release. I won't purchase it until they've fixed this issue.

Who gives a rats arse, just play the damn game, you won't notice the difference.

And it isn't "fake" widescreen, it is just a different way of doing it. Why should the people with 4:3 screen lose the sides of their FOV? Why are you widescreen gamers so willing to complain about the game cutting off the tops and bottoms of the screen, but the standard people are just supposed to accept cutting off the sides? Get off your darn high horse and play the game or shut the heck up about it, you aren't special because you have a widescreen, and you just a hypocrite if you refuse to play the game or complain about it because it is cutting off part of your FOV while demanding that they change it so it cuts off the FOV of other players.

Someone on the WS gaming forums reported that the game doesnt support changing the FOV, so for now its stuck with the crappy cut and zoom mode.

I think my words to you sir are...

Suck salty honey roasted peanuts - you lollipop licker!

It has nothing to do with other players (people without widescreen monitors) they don't lose anything. However, we'd (people with widescreens) like to see that little bit more, for the simple reason of - we can. If that doesn't sit with you, take your own asshat advice and play the game! Ignoring all us high horse riders.

Arrrh... must be when it's available through Steam. If I can find it cheaper than ÂŁ25 then I'll probably get it.

This method of altering aspect ratio is the only way to keep it fair for online play. This is why the battlefield series only supports 4:3, along with other competitive online games.

Now they should have it be a true 16:9 for offline and 4:3 style for online but thats more coding then its worth to those coders.

I'm one of these "standard" people, but even I agree this is a lame-ass way to do it. Why should they suffer because they have widescreen? and why should we get preferential treatment because we have a standard 4:3 aspect screen?

Stop being so aggressive, widescreen is becoming a standard now, so why this company took such a short-cut is beyond me. It's pathetic.

So, if they support widescreen and screw 4:3 users, its the same problem.

seriously what do you want?!!

How does supporting widescreen affect 4:3 users? These people won't be using 16:9, 16:10 anyway - they're not going to get screwed. I don't understand why you say that.

That certainly is a nice thing to say in a thread started by a Senior Moderator. I hope you get a nice little ban for that one.

And yes they do lose something, they lose the sides of the screen that you would be gaining. If Bioshock did widescreen the way you want them to, then the people with standard monitors would be missing the extra parts on the sides of the screen. So should they all start bitching about the games that give extra FOV to widescreen gamers?

I don't want to play the game, it doesn't interest me at all, I just want you little cry-babies to stop your hypocritical bitching.

I'm one of these "standard" people, but even I agree this is a lame-ass way to do it. Why should they suffer because they have widescreen? and why should we get preferential treatment because we have a standard 4:3 aspect screen?

Why should people get preferential treatment because we have widescreens? Widescreen might be becoming the standard, but it isn't the standard yet, and there are far more gamers out there with standard monitors than widescreen monitors. So why cater to the smaller section of your customer base while screwing over the larger section? Why should the standard people suffer because they have standard monitors?

well you dont really looase that terribly much running 4:3 and since most 4:3 monitors support higher res's than 16:9/10 4:3 will be better off anyway go on find a 2048X1536 widescreen monitor :D

let them urn WS i can just crank up the res and see more then them anyway

That's only fair, you're entitled to your opinions, as am I. If the mods think it's worthy of banning, so be it on my head. I don't regret saying it. I thought it had a nice ring to it. Good use of alliteration.

I figured I'd throw together a quick image of what the people bitching about wideseeners getting screwed want to happen. This time it is a represnetation of what happens if the game is designed for widescreen and the sides are cut off for the standard users, just like the hypocritical widescreeners want to happen. If the game switches to doing it that way do the standard users get to freak out like the widescreen users have here?
