Will Bioshock run on a SM 2.0 card?

I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere. My friend has an X850PRO and wants to know if it will run on his card. Does it require SM 3.0?

Probably won't run very well, if at all;

CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz Single Core processor
System RAM: 1GB
Video Card: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 128MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better/ATI X1300 or better, excluding ATI X1550).
Sound Card: 100% direct X 9.0c compatible sound card
Hard disk space: 8GB free space

no plain and simple it requires sm3, there is a patch out for it by a player who was prolly pissed off like a lot of people but im not tooo sure of the performance with the patch will be any good tbh http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5680

No, it simply wont run out of the box, Bioshock, being based on the Unreal 3 engine requires SM3.0, you can try the unofficial patch though

The patch works pretty damn well. Also, the UE3 engine was designed with SM2 and SM3 in mind, it is the fault of the developers not the engine, and it was a choice they made - it could easily work perfectly on SM2.

Once the patch is a little better your friends x850 should be able to run it fine. It has the power, just not the programming.

Yeah, I mean, it runs Call of Duty 2, F.E.A.R, Oblivion, and Prey fine, so I can't see why it would choke of bioshock.

why would anyone waste their time with that project? time = money and with all the time spent you might as well just buy a sm3 card.

It runs pretty well with the Asankel Fix v3, but it doesn't look that good compared to the 360 version.

I apologize for not reading the thread before responding.

I have tried several patches, including the Asankel mod (which, coincidentally, brought me the closest to success). I cannot play any part of the game without ctrl-alt-deleting (because alt-tab doesn't work) in/out of the game. I got 32fps in the beginning part, and then the whole thing froze.

Perhaps it is just my computer, perhaps it is Steam. However, all I know is, I can't play it, and BioShock is what's really pushing me to get an SM3/4 card.
