http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103066 for $60, I did not even know about this one. That is serious conservation. I am thinking this would be great for saving the psu. Seems like one to think about for anybody doing a budget pc, save money on cpu/psu and drop it on the g-card.

I just wonder how this 90nm will do 35W, yet the energy efficient 65nm do 45W? Both are great processors though, people report the 45W as running full load at low 30s and overclocked to 3ghz+ running full load @ low 40s!

perfect for HTPC of SFF.

my 65w windsor is stock at 1.25 for 2.4g it likes extra voltage, but it can run on very low voltage, i can get it to run at 1.1v for 2.4

HDMI to DVI converter and a small gaming/internet machine for my wife.

I was going to get the Black Box, but may get this instead, since my mobo only goes to 1.35v it may be a better option. I hope to see an oc first, I might not get much more but if I can hit a little more and save power..... And lets hope MS does not lock out my os again when I make the change

They've had a 35w X2 3800+ since the time the 65w models released. They mostly sold it to OEMs. If this is the same cpu, it doesn't clock well.

The Energy efficient CPU's don't overclock as well as the brisbanes. I bought an EE cpu, a 65watt dual core, and it overclocks kind of poorly.

That's because the process for these chips is tweaked specifically for low power usage. The tweak had the side effect of negatively effecting overclocks, in most cases.

I looked up the pn, yes you are right it released as an oem in 2006. I guess it would still be great for a budget build.

I am having the X2 3800 Windor core 65W version. Runs really cool. 1.25V, 2.2 Ghz, default 1.2V 2.0 GHZ. Never went over 26C each core with default heat sink with prime95 or BF2 for hours. Test board was ECS 6100SM-M.

Tested like this:

Open side panel. Personal tower heater blowing right on the cpu fan at 80F constantly for 4 hours. CPU running at full speed with full heat test of Prime 95. Core temps monitored with Coretemp and Amd64 CPU assistant which logs temps and max it went was 26C.

Did anyone actually receive a 35W X2 from Newegg? Everyone that purchased it should check the model number on there as Newegg has been sending everyone a 65W model. The product information on the website has been updated to say 65W.

I tried calling in to get a exchange and they insist that the production information has ALWAYS said 65W. I tried referred them to my first RMA where a rep assured me I would receive a 35W model but apparently the records have been lost and according to the rep I talked to and the manager above her, the product listing has ALWAYS said 65W.

I'm pretty furious right now as I've been wasting a lot of time and energy into getting a low power AM2 CPU for my new PC and they're implying that I'm lying to them.

What's the difference, you got the proc right? Was there any negotiable price discrepancy? I know it looks bad on Newegg but they could have put you on back order/not shipped anything at all.

They sent me a INFERIOR product than listed and they do NOT even have the product advertised. Not only that, they insisted that the error was on my part and that I am trying to make up some bullshit with them. If you don't see what is wrong with that then I don't know what to say :twitch:

They were more than accommodating for another customer that had bought the same CPU and offered him a $25 credit along with a apology. In my case they decided to feign ignorance and insist I have received what I ordered. I tried asking them to upgrade the shipping on my Brisbane replacement CPU but they see no reason to do so. Since they insist the error was on my part and that I received what I ordered, I'm compelled to share my experience with everyone. I've been a loyal Newegg customer for the last 5 years and have bought from them even when the prices weren't the best because of the excellent customer service. This may very well be my last Newegg purchase. Buyer beware!
