UVD is awesome
and HD DVD playing in PowerDVD using ATI's awesome Unified Video Decoder (UVD) + Half-Life 2: Episode Two
to give you a hint, Athlon X2 5000+, 4GB DDR2 6400, 74GB raptor with X1800 XT decodes the HD DVD at 100%, no HL2 with 3870 it decodes around 3-10% and even let you play HL2:EP2 at around 50-90fps with everything at very high with AA & AF max

even 2 x AA will kill it.. its a game/driver thing.. still once the resolutions go up there isnt much need for AA anyways.. mine looks quite pretty at 1680 x 1050..

i played with textures and shaders on high everything else on medium.. this gives an average of 40-ish fps in the bench thingy.. between 35 and 45 in the game..

looks pretty and plays smooth..

@ Trog...did I read correctly that this card (3870) isnt actually suported/optimized until the CCC8.x series drivers? Cant seem to remember where I read this . Its just something that is in my memory.

when it arrived it came with some none standard drivers.. the 7.11 drivers work with it but i dont think are optimized for it.. so whatever the card does now it should get better..

Your card is stable at 850 core and 2125 shader?:eek::eek:
Impressive, even if it's not totally stable, but enough for benchmarking. Good job.

I got my 3870 "yesterday".... So I shot some pictures :)

It's a Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 512MB:

Nice chick on the box, and full of the card's specs, forces you to read it:
http://nwgat.net/woot/files/17/TechPowerUp/powergfx2.jpg

STOP! I almost believed it myself ( I'm holy, do not touch me ):
http://nwgat.net/woot/files/17/TechPowerUp/powergfx5.jpg

Inside I found DVI/HDMI/Composite/6-Pin power cable + other stash:
http://nwgat.net/woot/files/17/TechPowerUp/powergfx4.jpg

4CD's, 3DMark 06 and PowerDVD seems to me as the most usable:
http://nwgat.net/woot/files/17/TechPowerUp/powergfx3.jpg

I also noticed that shrinking the core-nanometer doesnt really make a card smaller:

No Crossfire for Crysis? One word. "conspiracy" Why did they lock out Crossfire for Crysis? Does SLI work in Crysis? If it does it was a -simple- Nvidia payoff I'd guess. Didn't some Korean get Crysis Crossfire enabled though? If it doesn't do Crossfire I'm not bothering to buy the game. lol I didn't spend $1000s on my PC not to use it.
