Today really hasnt been my day :shadedshu
Im 99% sure my gigabyte g33-ds2r has fried. How? I dont know.
I left for work with my mum using the internet on the comp. She left and said she just closed all windows and left the comp.
Nobody touched the computer when she finished.
Around 5 hours later, when I got back from work, the computer was shut down and wouldnt start. Press the power buttons and the LEDs on the fans come on for a couple of milliseconds and nothing. I also smelt the "fried" smell.
After close inspection, I realised what had fried. It was as shown in the pic in attachments.
I don't know how that, of all parts, fried. Its the area around where the retention bracket for the TT golden orb was sitting. Also to note, the bracket was partially black and the screw was totally black (I do have the washer on the underside BTW and it worked fine for 2 months, and today when I put the new CPU in it just went (after hours of use)), and now comp wont start at all.
Now am I safe to assume the mobo is dead? If so, anyone around AUS know how the gigabyte RMA procedure is?
