never tried it myself but some people managed to connect their soundblasters to the front outputs. Google for "Audigy 4 pinouts to front panel". Creative also sells front 5 and 1/4" drive bays. Not sure if this makes any sense in your case. If you have Audigy 4 PRO card it comes with its own external module. Do you have this card?

i think the only difference between the oem and retail version is the remote.. its the pro cards that differ.. i think they have more pin-outs and stuff on them..

when the audigy 4 pro was introduced it was creatives very expensive top end offering.. it only came with break-out boxes and stuff.. the none pro card came later and is a cut down version of the pro card..

even the drivers are different.. i downloaded the latest audigy 4 pro drivers the other day.. the basic chips are the same so i assumed the drivers would be..

when i tried installing them they told me the product was not on my system.. so i had to search out the audigy 4 none pro drivers..??

there seems more to it than just the missing break-out box..

my oem card has just two little sockets at the top.. one is the cd/dvd aux thing.. the other is a white socket with ten pins in it.. that could be the front panel connection i dont know.. is your retail card similar..???

here they are

Here ya go. Most audigy/creative cards start ot the right and go left in count as you are looking at the component side.

Known to work on OEM Audigy4 PCI card(1x10) to Intel header(2x5)

\Pin Signal Name Description Signal Name Description
1 MIC Front panel microphone input signal (biased when supporting stereo microphone) PORT 1L Analog Port 1 - left channel (Microphone)
2 AUD_GND Ground used by analog GND Ground
3 MIC_BIAS Microphone power / additional MIC input for stereo microphone support PORT 1R Analog Port 1 - right channel (Microphone)
4 AUD_GND Ground used by analog audio circuits PRESENCE# Active low signal that signals BIOS that an Intel® HD Audio dongle is connected to the analog header. PRESENCE# = 0 when an Intel® HD Audio dongle is connected
5 FP_OUT_R Right channel audio signal to front panel (headphone drive capable) PORT 2R Analog Port 2 - right channel (Headphone)
6 FP_RETURN_R Right channel audio signal return from front panel (when headphones unplugged) SENSE1_RETURN Jack detection return for front panel (JACK1)
7 AUD_5V Filtered +5 V used by analog audio circuits SENSE_SEND Jack detection sense line from the Intel® HD Audio CODEC jack detection resistor network
8 KEY No pin KEY Connector key
9 FP_OUT_L Left channel audio signal to front panel (headphone drive capable) PORT 2L Analog Port 2 - left channel (Headphone)
10 FP_RETURN_L Left channel audio signal return from front panel (when headphones unplugged) SENSE2_RETURN Jack detection return for front panel (JACK2)
