It's single core and still 65nm.
This was supposed to be here half a year ago, so i suppose the dual core version is pushed back half a year (at least) too. That going to be 2H2010. While i have always liked Via cpu's (and S3 gpu's), they are always a year too late to market. If they could stick with their original release schedule, Via could be much more competitive. But i suppose that's easier said then done. |

Screw idle power, what's the TDP?
VIA didn't need a new processor, they need a single-bridge IGP with S3's Chrome 500 architecture. Only then, they'll crush Atom. Instead of focusing on Atom's flaws (video and 3D performance due to extremely crappy IGP), it's trying to beat it at its own game (power consumption). |

Let's hope VIA gets some of its partners to get some products out pronto. VIA nano failed due to too late to market... and OEMs have "already" done their low power ITX designs. Nano wasnt sufficiently > atom to warrant excitement. Nano 3000 is... with VT, SSE4, yet more performance and lower power.
The million dollar question is NOT JUST how Nano 3000 does against the Atom 230/270 (for laptops) but against the dual (4 thread) atom 330... since that it where these things will end up... industrial, ITX, mini-server/control boxes. The counterpoint to this is: Intel will soon release the Atom 440. Lower power, faster, better chipset, more memory addressing capability, etc. |

They are actually pretty high-end at what they do. Just because Fiat doesn't make a car that competes with the Lamborghini Diablo doesn't mean it's not a serious car maker.

Compare to Nano 2000 series
Product & Model Name Clock Speed VIA V4 Bus Maximum Power (TDP Max) VIA Nano L2100 processor 1.8GHz 800MHz 25W VIA Nano L2200 processor 1.6GHz 800MHz 17W VIA Nano U2400 processor 1.3+GHz 800MHz 8W VIA Nano U2500 processor 1.2GHz 800MHz 6.8W VIA Nano U2300 processor 1.0GHz 800MHz 5W Knock 20% off those numbers, you'll probably be close. I just want to know when I can buy one of these in an embedded board? I've been saying that since Nano first came out and there are some available, but the range is pathetic. And yes, they really need the good IGP bridge to go with it. But Atom/ION already looks to have that all sewn up...

I tried playing MAFIA on my Atom laptop, and it was completely playable imo. I even ran some nvidia screensavers in 3D on it and they were extra special imo.
