I'm actually kind of happy that they are using the GTS 250. It may not be the performance king with only 96sp and 128bit GDDR3, but it is a fresh new 40nm/DX10.1 chip. Looks like the TDP is only 28w, IIRC that's only 6 more watts than an 80nm GeForce 8600m GT (I have a pair in my laptop) for a GPU with 3x the shaders. Damn.

If you wanted to be on the power saving and battery life side of things then an 18" screen and i7 probably isnt the thing to look at. When i see something like this i expect lots of powah so id want a 4870 or the likes in it. (No rehashed g92 junk)

Edit: Just saw the price on the bottom. Thats a very nice price for projected specs.

Acer Always have low prices compare to others cuz they don't have any software other than OS.
Buy an Acer, remove all the junk software (Or repartition and install your own OS+software) and the thing will rock on!

Turbo Frequency: 2.8GHZ. When 1 core is loaded, that core will run at 2.8GHz. 2 cores loaded, they both run lower at say 2.5GHz. When all 4 cores are loaded, the whole chip runs at 1.6GHz IIRC.

i was curious how the statement of +75% cpu speed was factual. still though...1.6ghz when all cores are needed for use? i think some current mobile c2q's@2.4ghz will outperform it, based on desktop c2q-i7. but i guess benchies will be sure to come.

that's only for short periods of time. it doesn't run always at that speed.

and I have something like this in my DELL notebook. intel's Dynamic acceleration. the cpu goes over 2.2GHz in Cpu-Z.

Ok. It's slow, but still twice as much cache as mine! So would it be faster than a 2.66 3MB?

If the bios allowed it id cut off 2 cores so it stays at 2.8ghz in turbo. Now you have an extremely awesome dual core thats quad capable.

MSRP $1,349.99??

kick fuckin ass man thats awesome, I'd so order this online, laptop prices suck in Australia, I bet here you'd pay 3k AUD (more than 2,500 USD) and end up with something pitiful, at least for gaming.

this would be able $1,500 AUD after conversion, and that's not bad at all for a gaming beast of a laptop. Still, it'd be nice to see a 5770 or better make its way into laptops.
