Cooling Thermaltake Bigwater SE
Memory Local computer store DDR 3200 brand :(
Video Card(s) Sapphire ATI x800GTO2 to x850 XT - 546/610
I've tried everyone from multipliers to ht's. It wont go past 2.43ghz without erroring in Prime95. Is this because of my local store ram (which I lower the mhz in bios) or is my winnie at its max?

my winnie (1.8) bombs out at 2.5 gig.. i run it at 2.4.. it would probably be okay at 2.45 or somewhere in between but i tend to settle for round figures..

i think thats about right for the core.. but cos of the the low multiplyer on mine many other factors come in.. mobo.. memory or whatever.. so i aint %100 sure about the core hitting its limits..

trog

ps.. but if it ant the core it would have to be the mobo.. which kinda leaves u with having to settle for what u have..

OK I got it to 250ghz.
250 x 10
ht = 4x, ram = 333 (comes out to 417mhz)

I cant get it any higher, is it this winnie or is it the ram? I want to get corsair 4400 ram...

So seriously I'm stable at what I posted above. Am I wasting my time with corsair 4400 ram or will it able me to overclock more? I want to take the benefits of my water cooling and get to at least 3.0ghz.

i think its the winnie.. u can drop your ram more just to find out.. but a wnnie aint a sandy or venice.. u have the wrong chip i think..

cooling isnt the be all and end all that people think it is.. my winnies came out of a water coolered box.. it still bombed out at 2.5 gig.. so the guy who owned it told me..

u take advantage of better cooling by shoving higher voltages thru a chip.. if u cant do that the better cooling is wasted..

my winnie at 40c (air cooled) bombs out at 2.5 gig.. my sandy at 60c runs stable at 2.9 gig.. heat or lack of it aint the be all and end all that lots of folks think it is..

trog
