My New EVGA P55 LE has a Foxconn Socket. Should I worry?

Just like the title says should I worry? I am planning to overclock. Actually already have..... but I don't plan on going to the extreame end. I basically plan of just going to what the max Intel specs will allow me too. Which on the i5 is farly high. I have seen as high as 3.8Ghz or higher.

Well should I be worried or has Foxconn fixed the problem you think?

If you guys haven't heard there was a problem with the Foxconn Socket 1156 awhile back with overclocking. That is why I am asking? If anyone hear has had problems or heard about someone having problems.
Or was this just a very limited thing?

I only heard that it was on a certain batch of Gigabyte boards... If you feel calmer, I got a EVGA P55 SLI with a Foxconn socket and no problems here. I wouldn't worry except if the temps seem far too high or something.

Extreme overclocks would be the only need to worry and as far as when I researched it only affected a small number of early release boards.

Like MRCL, my P55 SLI has a Foxconn and I have already taken my 860 to 3.51, so far so good. I will probably take it up to 4 some time in the future- not sweating the socket at all.

Thanks guys for the response! Then I will not worry then. I must be way behind the curve on this one! That is why I sounded so excited. Heard nothing about it until just tonight and thought to myself oh shit just my luck!

But that would make sense. It was probably just some bad batches!

I have a Foxconn on my GB-P55 UD6. When I removed my 750 all the pads had contact marks, and I had over 1.5V through my CPU on air cooling with no burn marks any irregularities at all. If we were still in the first few boards released in the P55 chipset (IE when the issue was an issue) I might even be slightly worried.

You make some great points! Maybe when I get a chance I should look under my CPU too make sure all the CPU pin impressions are there.
You are also probably right on the fact that it was a new design problem. Now that it has been awhile after release it has been worked out.

I am not sure if mine was one of the ones first released? My Mob is EVGA P55 LE Rev 1.0 and the Socket is definitely Foxconn.
Now ordered the board on 12/29/2009. So there isn't really anyway to tell if the board is one of the original ones is it? Is there a way to find out the manufacture date?

I bought mine a month before yours. So I wouldn't worry. About the date, maybe visit the EVGA forums?

20mm, you really don't have anything to worry about.. There was a 50/50 chance that the evga's had the Lotas or Foxconn sockets.. Then, it wasn't but people ocing the chips to where it would even have a problem.. I really don't think that you'll have a problem with the fact that your not going to go extreme on the oc, & your doing everything smart.

Like Sneeky said. Check the CPU and see if it is catching. If it is, then don't worry.. if there is more then a dozen that isn't.. Then might need to see what can be done.
