Gaming aside, what do you set your screen resolution to, for things like e-mail, web browsing, etc.?

If you use a nonstandard resolution that is not listed, just round to the nearest higher resolution. For those with multiple rigs, just go with the one you use most often for e-mail/browsing/etc.

yeah main in 1920x1080(23"), then 1680x1050(20") , 1400x1050(19"), 1280x1024(17"), and then sometimes i turn the tv on too @ 1920x1080(42")

never, ever enough screen real estate. I need a wall of screens. I need more :)

it's not just play though, it's work too. I wouldn't have a use for so many screens if I didn't work on this thing all day long ...

23" 1920x1200, for a few years now (old Apple display Cinema Display from work). At first, when I had an e6400 and a x1950 XT 256MB I couldn't play every title on high settings.

1920x1200 24" - all the time

I've been an avid fan of the 16:10 display for a long while now . . .

16:9 is wider, at least in screenshots. Is there some reason I'm not aware of that 16:10 is better for gaming?

Depends on if a game supports 16:10 or not - and even how well they support it.

If it's full support, and not some stretched FOV/POV or other BS, you end up with a little more room along the edges - typically T/B - compared to a 16:9. But, most games simply stretch the edges of the FOV, which gives a bit of a "fish-eye" effect . . . it's not too bad, really, and barely noticeable if you sit a comfortable distance from the display . . . if a game properly supports the aspect ration, you won't get that stretched effect, instead you'll be able to see what players with smaller screen res can't.

Besides, you get a little more screen with a 16:10 compared to a 16:9 - from what I understand, it's typically an extra inch worth at the bottom (or top, depending on how one view's it).
