Rad fans. Which is the best but not most expensive?

Ok i have these no name fans on my rad and i want to replace them cause one i rattling and they just suck pretty much. What is some good fans that have good pressure and CFM but are not overpriced and do not have to look great? this is for a swiftech 120.1 rad. THANKS GUYS!

Aren't they supposed to suck? :roll:

Seriously, I would recommend the Scythe Gentle Typhoons...they are a little pricey but have great static pressure.

Ok those look good! maybe i have to save up alittle bit for those. 17.99+2.99S/H is alot for a fan but it seems to be a good one

The Scythe Gentle Typhoons is rated at 48 m³/h on Newegg's description. How does that convert to CFMs? :confused:

CFM is important, but if you are mounting them to a rad, you should be looking at static pressure (i.e. the ability of the fan to push air through an obstruction)

Here is a chart for the Gentle Typhoon

Who cares if the fan pushes 80CFM if it cant get it through the rad and blows it off through the sides? When 58CFM with 80% of the air going through your rad vents will cool that puppy real nice. Less CFM through the fan, but more CFM through the rad.

Edit: I can't find ratings of the Static Pressure rating of the XLF-F1254, but they are rated for 61 CFM as opposed to the 58CFM of the Gentle Typhoon. So it is 3CFM more than the Gentle Typhoon, but most reviews show the Static Pressure of the Gentle Typhoon to be one of the best out there. (Gelid also makes an awesome one.)

I've went from 4 Silverstone 1900rpm Slipstreams, to 4 Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm fans. The difference in temp.. A "C" difference, and that's about it.

I'm behind every single person that says Gentle Typhoon. CFM's mean a good bit, but Static Pressure is the key. Imho

also the Noctua N12P are great fans for static pressure and airflow for rads. Although the gentle typhoons are an awesome fan that's for sure.

For me, fan noise is an issue and I'll gladly trade off a degree or two for a quieter case

If noise isn't so much an issue, go with the Slipstreams. They are pretty much the gentle typhoons but blow harder.

I'm using the 1900rpm versions and they are great. :toast:

correct.

generally speaking... 120x38mm fans almost always have a good bit higher static pressure than 120x25mm fans.

for rads i always recommend 120x38mm fans.

Thought id add a degree of complexity to this issue. Some specific radiators are designed with specific fans in mind. Your radiator may not match a high CFM fan. Think about that and google your radiator to see if the fins spacing is better for high CFM or lower CFM fans.

swiftech rads can use lower CFM fans but static pressure is still to be considered.

alot of times you see guys with swiftech rads run push+pull yate loons. makes for silent yet sufficient airflow.

now HWlabs rads on the other hand... you need high cfm + high static pressure unless you have the SR1 series rads.

all the other brands are in the middle.

Slip Streams are cheap, silent, they under volt like a dream and have the power when needed.
Also the static pressure is quite good
