Greetings again folks, today I have for sale an ASUS 9600GSO 384MB video card. Card runs great and overclocks spectacularly. This is the good version, the 96 stream processor version. Card has the G92 core and clocks to 750/1900/2000 of course ymmv.

Great card here, I have one in my work computer for folding, would make a good PhysX card as well(they still play games pretty decently too

Early models were unlockable, but those days are long gone(192bit now). Nevertheless, it's still alot of card for the money and the shaders will clock an additional 450 mhz.

It was the 192bit cards that were unlockable. The 9600GSO (which was originally called the 8800GS) is based on the G92 core that also resides in the 8800GT, 8800GTS 512, 9800GTX, and GTS250. The G92 core that was put in the early 9600GSO's simply has 32 of it's 128 stream processors disabled.

The new 9600GSO that was introduced is based on the G94 core (which is the same core in the 9600GT) but was castrated to only 48 stream processors. They are not unlockable since the G94 core is only made from the beginning with 64 stream processors. Now they did bump the memory interface up to 256bit and increased the clock speed but this was not enough to overcome the loss of half it's stream processors.

Having said all that I do not know if this card unlocks as I never tried it or needed it. It was employed as my PhysX card and did a fantastic job, but I have since moved to GTX470's in SLI and am looking to trim some power usage out of my system so this one has to go.

It has to have 8 memory chips to be unlockable, according to that article in port 5.
