Water cooling for your memory

Innovatek is now offering a water cooling kit for your memory. It works on single or doublesided memory. The starterkit kosts 50€s and can cool one double sided or two single sided memory sticks. up to three of these sets can be combined to cool four sticks of memory.

why don't people just buy non conductive fluid and put their computer in a air tight case. COver all the pci connections and fill it up. Total cooling solution!

I think this is a rather neat innovation personally!

(I believe I have seen this type of cooling before, but cannot recall WHO made it unfortunately)...

* Still, I know that hydro-cooling usually gets the "better" of air-cooling methods, so this ought to be a big "hit" amongst the serious O/C pursuers here & elsewhere worldwide.

Not such a bad idea but I bet there is some kind of reason to do with corrosion.

well memory usually doesnt react very well with more voltage and even sub-0 temps. several overclockers have moded pelters to fit ram and it had no effect. looks nice but rather pointless

Aha, this is what I was waiting to hear - whether or not this results in better o/c's or not (not a big hydro-cooling user here, pure aircooled, but I have always wanted to 'take the plunge' so-to-speak)...

* I thought it might help out, as typically hydro-cooled methods usually work-out better for temps than does air cooling!

P.S.=> I put heatspreaders onto my RAM, with a Thermaltake fan attached on the main spreader so airflow onto my RAM is there for certain... it appears it is as good as I can make it from your feedback then, in lieu of going "hydro-cooled" methods! Live & learn... not a wasted day imo! apk

I've been curious about heatsinks for ram in general. I've got a watercooled rig and it certainly works wonders for CPU/GPU - but that's not my point... ok, I'm just bragging :eek:

I did a comparison of memory OC'ing on X800GTO with ram sinks and found an extra 5-10 MHz over running the chips bare. And that was all other things equal - I actually did the test with the stock air-cooler. So that's my $0.02 and have the same quesiton - what would this do for latency or speed??? Would really like to see a test at some point.

well as you have guessed with the ram a 20c difference in ram only equates to another 10-20 mhz. this is the same on ddr/ddr2/ddr3. unless you have a high end dfi with lots of tweaking available 20 let alone 10mhz extra on the ram means very little.

Ok, then... it appears to come down to a "ROI" equation: Cost of this unit, vs. the benefits gained...

(Anyone have an idea of the cost of this piece above, or one like it?)

If I were to go & liquid cool this system in my sig? I'll go as "all-out" as hydro-cool fluid flow will take you, on as many parts as is possible (CPU, video, & memory, afaik, & possibly even HDD units).

Dont forget the waterblock for those voltage capicitors on the video card and mobo. If you were to go all out like that, I would stress highly on getting 2 pumps instead of 1. If your going to use 1/4" tubing may be one powerful one.

Watercooling your memory is almost pointless unless your on on BH5 or high volted TCCD.
