The other day, (You cant start like this. It needs to be more formal. This is to casual.) I had been troubleshooting a system for a teacher when I discovered that the system had a corrupted File system. Now, as we all know, teachers tend to have quite a few important files on their computers and when that computer has a corrupted File System, chances are that their system is screwed. (huge negative. You cant even consider it professional if you use short hand or slang like this. You need to explain why a currupted file system is detrimental to systems affected.) Now, while there isn't much I could do for windows besides Format and Reinstall, I

I didnt read the rest. take those 2 points in mind and revamp the entire thing. I can almost garentee their are discrepancies like this all over that document.

Can you suggest alternative wording?

What sort of writing style are you supposed to use?
Is this for a technical writing class?

Oh, I see.
Then it can be a mixture of casual and technical. In that case it should be fine.

Normally in a purely technical document, you want to leave out personal references and experiences, and just state facts. But for an article giving it a more personal touch will make it easier to read for people of varying experience levels.

I would just make sure the information is accurate and leave the writing style the way you have it. If you want to see some good tech writing with a bit of personal touch, look up the articles on Dr. Dobbs Journal. They will be about programming, but you are looking for style, not content.

No, see highway's one is whether or not to give it a try whereas mine is centered around the concept of you the reader hooking someone else up with it and a simple method to follow to try and ensure that the new user has the best possible experience. The intro paragraph is legit, I really did that.

Personally I dont see how it is a copy and paste for a base. I just read highways article and it is similar only in that he is stating why people should give ubuntu a try and that the article is about ubuntu. It is like saying his and my articles are copy/paste of base articles:
