well just by doing the touch, I am guessing the case draws the heat really well. It is much like an extention of the metal casing of the hard drive. So I do not think it gets much hotter than as if it was just lying out on top of the computer (which the HDD was for a while).

Can I put a serial-ata hard drive inside this and connect it with my eSATA motherboard port?
