Processor Help.

I am thinking about upgrading my processor and i was wondering which one i should get. I play some games like Counterstrike: Source, Call of Duty united offensive, and Warrock. And i also use programs like Photoshop and Premiere. I am not sure whether i want a dual core or a single. I am looking for one under $200, cause i am not made of money and i will have to buy a new mobo too!

Any help is welcome!

well, amd slashed prices recently, so you can pick up a new dual core 3800+ for about $170, or a 4200+ for $200.
I'm not an intel guy, so i couldn't help you there. although i hear that pentium D's are uber-overclockable.

and conroes rock, but i'm assuming you don't have the $$$ for one of those.

They don't.
That's Allendale with 2MB L2. All Conroes come with 4MB L2.

ha! all i know is i want one.

but i don't think i can shell out $1300 for the xtreme edition on newegg....

that costs a consiterable bit more than my entire computer.

It is the same u-arch but the performance difference between Allendale and Conroe is quite noticeable because cache size is an important factor for Core.
