Possible to run 2 X1900GT in Software Crossfire?

If the driver works, will you buy another X1900GT for Crossfire?

6.4 beta driver found. makes it possible to run 2 X1900GT in Software Crossfire!?

Hi. I found this driver @ ATi.com and it is for Crossfire for X1800GTO and X1900GT

Quote from ATi: " 737-22098: Radeon X1800GTO and Radeon X1900GT CrossFire Support

The information in this article applies to the following configuration(s):

* Radeon X1800GTO
* Radeon X1900GT
* Catalyst 6.4 Beta Display Driver
* Windows XP Professional
* Windows XP Home Edition

To enable CrossFire mode with two Radeon X1800GTO or two Radeon X1900GT graphic cards, you will need to download and install Catalyst 6.4 Beta.

This driver is provided as is and specifically for the above mentioned configuration."

I do not have two X1900GT Cards (yet) and dont have the money to buy one just to see if this works...
so I wondered if there are anyone out there with two GT's or have the possibility of lending another GT for testing purposes, so I/We can find out.

To Find & download the driver, try either this link: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=22098

or go to support.ati.com and search for 737-22098

Post 3dmark/in-game fps increase results.

If this works, I'm buying a second GT ;)

Damnit! got the answer from ATi just now:

We have responded to your issue.

Solution: Currently there is no X1900 series cards that are supported by ATI for Crossfire configuration without a Crossfire Edition card.

how nice, they respond to my message, and start with "we have responded to your message" how informative :D

lol :D give ATi a chance, dual VCs is a bit new for them, but in all honesty if anyone can reduce that overhead down to realistic numbers I put my money on ATi doing it, nvidia tried, then just sort of gave up :rolleyes:...

sure, i really hope they do it, a x1900gt crossfire setup would cost aprox. the same as a mastercard (atleast in norway) but that was the reply I got for asking the question, the first was an automated answer that answered nothing the other i have posted, unedited.

and i have probably written 3 pages spread on 2 emails explaining the question, the reason for it, and that ATi would most definately see more GT's Sold etc etc, and since i have just gone through the same with asus (wich actually lied to me in their one liner responses) the whole feeling leaves me thinking of logitech (who sent me a free power adapter when i asked for the price ;)) or creative (who exchanged a dvdrom that was 4 yrs old for free)

but back on topic, I almost still want to buy another GT card, even though they say it dont work :S

I hope too they enable masterless crossfire on the GT's! (because who wants a crossfire edition card with XT specs running @ GT speeds? with only 12 pipes and half its memory diabled?) Edit: it clocks itself down too, so its useless to buy a XTX card if your gonna use it for crossfire.. how can ATi not see and fix this? probably because lesser cards dont give them enough money. lets hope AMD can talk some sense into them.
The best would be if we could pair up "lesser" cards (i.e. X1X00 w/ X1900XXX) but still use the full potential of both cards

they already have crossfire support for the x1900gts, my buddy and I both have the cards, and he's got a A8R32, we plugged em in and the crossfire tab popped up. After we enabled it it kept crashing after trying to run 3dmark05 - found the problem (you have to disable catalyst AI). After that the benchmark was awful scored 8400ish. I score 9200 with my single one at stock

doesnt sound like it worked, if you get a lesser score in crossfire than single card.. what driver have you tried the 6.4 Beta? 6.7 or the new 6.8?

6.6 was sopposed to enable crossfire support for the 1900gt with out a master card. But that's not in the release notes.

Go to ATI Support ( http://support.ati.com/ )

Search for "737-22378"

Click (and download / save) "To download this driver, please click here"
These are certified Catalyst v6.6 drivers with control panel that supposedly support crossfire across 2 X1900GTs.

Download CrossFireJack (the attached file).

Install the drivers (even if you don't have an nForce 4 Chipset).

Run CrossFireJack ... Enable CrossFire.

It's a hackjob, but it 'enables' CrossFire.
It's good to see the " 14X " AA option...
:wtf: Don't honestly know for certain if it's enabled or if it's just faking it...

Have fun with it.

Feel free to try it with other drivers too.

(note: You can't enable/disable it while the video adapters are in use by the CCC, so have it closed before you try enabling or disabling crossfire, or it'll gracefully & silently abort the attempt...)

Requires .NET Framework 2.0 x86.
