ATI FireGL X3-256 BIOS needed

ATI FireGL X3-256 BIOS - UPDATED

I have a FireGL-X3, but with a CRC error in the BIOS. I'm not sure what/where the problem is. The card came with this error! I'm trying to fix it but need some help. Could someone please post or email an original copy of the FireGL-X3 BIOS? I looked carefully at the BIOS currently online http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/?sort=mfgr but it does not seem to be a legitimate version. I think it is an X800PRO -> FireGL X3 hack BIOS, since the "ports" and "connectors" settings are all wrong for a true 2x DVI and dual-link.

If nobody answer you with the BIOS image I can help you with modding the connector layout from 1xVGA/1xDVI to 2xDVI on the existing FireGL X3 BIOS in the BIOS collection. Let me know if you need my help.

FYI my existing BIOS shows the following:

Ver 9.003.000.000
P/N 113-xxx-xxx-xx
Core 475MHZ
Memory 500MHZ

According to RaBiT BIOS Tuner, the flags for TV, DVI and VIVO are all set. However, to my knowledge X3-256T has non VIVO since there is no theatre chip, and has no TV, since it supposed to have stereographics output. There are CRC errors. I'm convinced the BIOS is problematic. Either the wrong BIOS for this card, and/or hacked by previous owner ;-) :slap:

Anyone with an original X3-256 BIOS, please post it!!! For all interested parties, here is my BIOS. Note this is a RAR file not ZIP. Had to rename it to post it due to file filters on techpowerup forum.

Thanks for your suggestion but the "FireGL 3 BIOS" dates from around 2000. It is an old card that has an "IBM RC1000 256-bit graphics processor, in conjunction with an IBM GT-1000 processor chip". It is very different from the FireGL X3 BIOS, circa 2005, which is based on the x800 series (r420GL) chip.

Some very kind soul emailed an image of their FireGL-X3 BIOS :respect:

. I've attached a copy for any other person that finds this thread. It is an RAR file with a zip extension. (Why this forum doesn't allow RAR or bin files is a mystery to me!)

The attached BIOS image is:

P/N 113-A30101-100
VER 009.004.001.017
Core 490MHZ
Memory 450MHZ

Note that I had to use the DOS flash utility (FlashROM v2.40) to reprogram the BIOS as follows:

flashrom -s 0 OLDBIOS.bin (to make a backup of the old BIOS!)
flashrom -p 0 NEWBIOS.bin -f
reboot

This BIOS solved all my problems. However, if anyone has a newer version of the FireGL-X3 BIOS, please post it!

So does your card have 16 or go back to 12 pipes like a GL ?

I,d like to maybe do this also on my 850 pro ( I run it on 16 pipes thanks to dolf :respect:

) but would much rather have it set up as a FireGl so Solidworks will let me use Realview.
