Half-life 2 is steam based, steam based games are always better in ATI cards while Open GL games are better in nVIDIA cards.

The cards work different, ATi more pixel shaders, and Nvidia more pixel pipelines. Different technology's at playnvidia cards are pretty shitty, they got more pixel pipelines and barly match 16 pixel pipeline card released in october 2005 LOL, 7900 gtx 2006 lol.
