What motherboard do you have, I love the Creative cards. Some peeps will say other wise here in a bit.

Creative X-Fi are very good... DaMulta is right though, there are going to be people who swear by the fact that onboard is just as good. IMHO, if you only use it for gaming I don't think you need a card that expensive, if you do music editing then it would be a good choice but you'd notice very little difference between that and a £30 card in most circumstances, but everyone has their own opinion and that is mine.

I myself have a X-Fi and I'll swear by it.

I can notice a big difference in gaming from going from on-board to a Creative card.

Well you need an X-Fi or high end card to set ultra-high sound quality in BF2...

I run ultra just fine. I do have a fatilt1y but I'm running a socket A XP3200Barton.

on-board 32 sounds at once

other sound cards with the audigy 2 included 64 sounds at once(But the creative cards will go above EAX2)

X-FI 127 sounds at once with EAX 5.

i can swear by the fact that a sound blaster live sounds better then an ac97 on high end speakers just because it has higher output on the jacks makes the sound have more punch so i would assume the x fi would
