AMD needs to catch up and get a new architecture going to counter the Core 2 rather than just revamping their old K8.

I dont get it. That thing keeps mentioning 5 Ghz...no way in hell it can do that. However, I Think its a good thing for AMD. Amd is sticking with what brought them to the show and it has been working wonders for them. If they can get new life out of their microarchitecture, and keep prices low, I say let them keep using it. The new Architecture should come out in 2008. :rockout:

IF intel got REALLY far ahead, AMD would go bankrupt etc. i mean like generations upon generations ahead.

um new gen core will be out by mid next year, and 65nm cores are said to only be slitly diffrent from current 90nm cores, mainly higher clocks acheiveable.
if they are tuely coming closer to core2then sall good, but they arent targeted to dirrectly compete with core2, the next gen cores are, and should be out early to mid 2007(depends on yealds and such)

oh and intel fanboys need to take a look at how intels making their chips, intel quadcore saturates the FSB with talk between cores since the cores cant talk dirrectly, the faster the chips go the more saturated the lga775 buss is gonna get, soon they will endup with eather a new version of lga775 OR a new socket all togather to address this issue specly since they cant seem to fix the flaws in their multi core designs.

and btw,i'm no fan boy.does any body remember the way amd "fans" were crowing when intel was behind? nuff said.

if amd bring a better chip out,i will buy that.

i buy the fastestat the time, not intel/amd.the fastest at the time.

yer talk about fan boys who use the brand of thier chip as their forum name.how original.

and lets try not to turn this into "sigh" another intel/amd squabble eh.

intel is better NOW,amd maybe better AGAIN.

I for one will go for value for money. And i only upgrade if there is a new game that i just have to play it and my present system can't support it. Anyway been using AMD all the time but will have to say the price of C2D is getting more attractive by the day. To me is either AMD make their current CPU cheaper or come up with someting better than C2D with lower price fast or alot of its current will switch to C2D. Since die hard fan makes up only a small portion (that is my opinion anyway) most of them will buy based on marketing or value for money.

Sigh.

That sounded like an introduction at an AMD 12step meeting.

In some of those reviews, the new 65nm Amd chips edge out the C2D. That pretty impressive on some benchmarks with just a die shrink. Amazing. I wonder what the new Architecture will be like. Just kind of sucks its taking them over a year to match Intel. (well it did take Intel like 3 or 4 years, so I mean, I guess it makes sense.)

On a side note, I wont lie, Im an AMD fan through and through, have been since I first got into computers and buying them and building them (like 1994). I have no problem admitting that. However, if I ever could afford to build me a pentium C2D system, I Would just so I can oc the hell out of it.

ok first off, 65nm will come first to almost unaltered k8 cores, should be seeing them poping up anytime, then mid next year k8L will show up, the one advantage of the new 65nm chips will be higher clocks with lower temps/volts, this should be a very exciting time for amd users who already have am2, if not, well u got what you got.

i was just told by a buddy at intel test labs that they aquiered 2 65nm chips, he dosnt know where they got them(nobodys talking) but they are easly clocking to the max the boards can handel at 1.4v, he said one of them is running at 355x12 (chipset/board can do more then 355 stable) thats 4260 at 1.4v they didnt try lower volts from what he said, hes gonna try and test it come more himself over the weekend(he can work some overtime and play with some of the new toys without alot of other people getting in the way...)

oh and temps where maxed at 35c with stock cooling from a sempy64(a chip they fryed by giving it 2.7volts ROFL) thats crazy, little cooler+slow fan+high overclock=low temp........

im trying to get him to take me with him this weekend, i just wana see these chips, play with them, see if im gonna be forced to buy one when they come out :p

Wait.. isnt this the regular K8, 65nm?

GG intel.

K8L is gonna rape and pillage the intel village!!! (for all of you wanting to bash the K8L, I hope you do realize K8L is the name of what would be the K9).

Yes, I'm posting this from a 2.16ghz core 2 duo.

He's bullshitting you. 2.7v would die before even being able to read the voltage.

acctualy it posted and locked at post, the sempy64 was a 754 one early version, they wanted to see if it would die instantly or overheat.
it was a newcastle class sempy64, so 130nm, it cooked, they have it on the wall, i have seen it, the bottem of the pcb is black LOL

The Brisbane core has been out for a while, hasn't it? I haven't seen the benchmarks yet, though. Thanks! It's nice to see AMD keeping up with the impressive Core 2 Duo. I can't wait until the K8L's come out.
