Sound Card

I currently have the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 platinum. I don't really do recordings, nor am i a huge user of the front panel... This card has NEVER worked with EAX enabled on games, and I think I got it broken but always thought it was a driver thing... well now its starting to 'click' and I'm looking at new sound cards to get. I've heard of turtle beach, and I came across this card and am wondering if it would be a good buy. I have a surround sound system, but I'm using analog connections, and with this turtle beach card i could upgrade to an optical cable.... blah!

that and use the latest drivers from the cmedia forums, its the same as the better turtle beach cards just cheaper.

if you want a better card look for auzentech aka bluegears cards the xmystic(sp) is a GREAT card based on pretty much the same chip as above but with dts and such.

honestly im gonna be ordering 2 of the above card 19bucks each is a great buy, and its a better card then the audgy2 ever was

Seems like a monster of a card... and yeah... SBA2P SUCKED. I bought it almost 4 years ago cause it was my first build, I didn't know better... but now I have surround sound, and Jamo classic 10 front speakers, advent baby 2 rears, a nice sony center... and thin shoddy analog cables out of my sba2p because it cant output 5.1 on optical just... makes me mad.... so mad...

this may sound dumb though, but will it output 5.1 even though it says its a 7.1 channel card?

you forget, a decent soundcard will last you YEARS, not mere months like a graphics card

i had a sonicfury, and only stopped using it when i got the crosshair, even now its still installed in my system till i kill off the damn crappy crackle pop noises the shitty soundmax drivers cause.

vista is crap, its gonna do away with alot of peoples systems

(needs 700mb ram on clean install just for the os, add apps and it raises quickly!!! )

vista sucks. it has to "call home" every 2 weeks, so if you buy a laptop that wont be used on the net... kiss bye-bye to all your software after 2 weeks. vista will literally commit suicide. then theres the fact vista is 15% slower for games than XP, despite microshaft... err microshit.. im sorry i mean microcock... *cough* microsoft explicitly marketing vista as "THE gaming platform" plus the fact to run anything half decently your looking at a system with 3GB+ RAM. THEN theres the fact vista is riddled with spyware that literally lets any company (and any user that knows how) to just walk on into your computer and delete whatever the hell they feel like, collect personal information about you (the user)

i understand that, but im just thinking ahead here. the mystique though, what does it offer that i would truly need over the xplosion? im not quite an audiophile, but i hate shoddy audio, and i like to have a good system. i guess what im trying to get at, is what makes the mystique so much better of a purchase over the xplosion for my purposes -> gaming, lots of music, 5.1 setup?
