OCZ Technology Group, Inc., today announced the OCZ Vindicator CPU cooler, an enthusiast-grade thermal solution for the latest high performance processors. The Vindicator can be used as a passive or active cooler depending on the needs of the enthusiast. The cooler can effectively cool some CPUs passively thanks to a pure copper base plate and six copper heat pipe design that rapidly transfers heat away from the processor. The versatile OCZ Vindicator CPU cooler is compatible with sockets AMD 754/939/AM2 and Intel 775. Because no motherboard back plate is required, the hassle-free Vindicator is installed quickly and easily with no need to remove your motherboard. For more information on the OCZ Vindicator, please click here.

Dammit! This was looking so good then they had to mess it up with that craptastic standard clips. I hate these damn push turn click things. I would've loved to get this for my new vista machine.

This looks exactly like my Scythe Infinity...so at least we know that it'll do a decent job.

I might switch to this, I like the "clips" because they are trouble free to install. Hmm... the stock intel cooler looks more tempting than my VF7700CU...

I took my AC Freezer 7 off the other day to de-dust it as it had been running a little hotter than usual and I broke one of the clips as I put it back on. I personally think the clip-in setup isn't the best design but I really cant be bothered removing my motherboard to fit a back-plate one.
They go in just fine first time but if you ever have to remove it and re-seat it the clips are prone to wandering and catching on the mobo as you try and fit it.

It now idles at 60 degrees and hits 80 playing CSS :ohwell:

might look at one of these as a replacement.

reminds me of every other tower cooler thats based on the same design except this was usually has more heatpipes and DOESNT require a back plate. Which many of us love cause it doesn't require for some of us to take out entire system apart because of not removable tray.

Cool thing is that Intel users can mount straight up, no need to remove mobo and backplate it. I love that. Now, to see some benchies ::prods W1zzard to get a sample to test::

I see this is available in the US already - when is it due in the UK and do we know the price point? I can get a new AC Freezer 7 Pro for £19.33 delivered but I fancy something different.

What else falls into this price range that has the push in clips and is capable of taming a Prescott?

That looks bigger then the AC Freezer Pro 7, at least the one sitting my case.....which by the way I have no problem with the clips, and ive removed it a few times and put it back on. It seems like it would rattle when its not attached, but once on its pretty damn secure.
